USPS Click and Ship question.

I use a large video box to ship my cigars and I usually run them over to the post office. They are under 13OZ's though. Can I just drop them in any mailbox? Does it make a difference that they are priority mail?

Usually use UPS, but found out how cheap and easy click and ship is. Plus they provide great boxes to keep your stogies safe.

It may cause delays.
Here we have Priority boxes next to the reg box and in some places they are like night drop boxes on the side of the buildings.

That's what I remember, seeing two separate boxes or slots. I tried to asked at the post office, but they couldn't give me a strait answer. Well, the PO is only two blocks farther then the mailbox. Oh well.

You can actually drop off bigger/heavier packages, but they usually will not go in the slot!. The rule, according to my postal worker is that "if it is prepaid with an account through click and ship, it does not have to be checked at the counter." I usually walk in, put my packages over the counter and walk out. They know mine are click and ship, they don't do anything with them except move them straight to the shipping bins. (I guess they don't know my capacity for screwing up like my wife knows:D)

The prepayment through the USPS account gives a way the package can be traced back to a sender in case of error, insufficient postage, or other problems with the shipment. Seems a little slim on accountability, but it's their policy, not mine!!!

You can also have the package picked up, at your house, the next day (if that is where your mail is delivered) for free.
