Vic. Sinclair Serie 55

Mister Moo

The Pinnacle of Style
This is a low-end review (my first, low end or otherwise). The cigar wasn't especially low end but my review is. I think the more cigars you smoke, the more complicated they can get. Since I'm not very experienced I know I'm missing a lot here. By the way, my hero of the to-the-point review is Mardurolover (on Patagas Black: "these are the most awesome smoke i have tried.").

I was gifted Serie 55 sungrown churchill and recently smoked it 2/3 down when out for a longggggg walk with the family one evening. At walks end I sat outside on the bench, in the cold, alone, unwilling to let it go unfinished. It was a rough looking wrapper but smoked with a pungent tang that set me back. Sweet aroma, medium-full body and a tad stronger than the NC's I'm accustomed to. I went to my local and bought an open box of a Churchill sampler that had a few sungrown and maduros left.

I just finished a few maduros and thought they were majorly tasty. Same rough coat as the sungrown (all the 55's, I guess) but a lovely rich smoke, sweet to be sure, an almost perfect burn and excellent draw. I could smoke one of these birds for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Stronger keeps tasting better to me, whatever that's all about.

The Victor Sinclair line is rarely mentioned. Is this because you'all think they suck or becasue there isn't much variety in their line or because they're overpriced for what they are? Or not?

was this one the 55 with the green label? If so I had one last night...I think the whole Victor line is GREAT...Especially the black and red with the pig tails...
I actually really enjoyed this last night at first it tasted kind of green or twangy but settled very well, the ash was very nice and it burnt perfect...If I had a go to the VS lineup would be it, but that's just my :2.

A also agree with you on the more I smoke the stronger I likem! I dont what it is either but The only cigar that 5 vegas makes that I dont like is the Gold...Kinda like smoking air to me...

Very nice review!

i think there are three basic types of review.

the short to the point like you quote mardurolover.

the score card review, like doctors exam.

and the story review..

personally i perferthe story review because it can say alot about the entire smoking experiance which to meis what smoking cigars is all about nad to the read trying to get an idea of the product it provides information about what may influence the overal opinion of the cigar.

I've never had that line,,heard good and bad things about them,,,guess I will have to take the plunge....

I win some off cbid the sungrown robustos with the green label. I have enjoyed the coupld ive had so far. as to the 5 vegas gold I enjoy them in the morning with coffee. I read somewhere that as the day progresses so should the strength of your cigar. So far that has worked very well for me

I've tried the corojo & sun grown Series 55 & liked em both. The Bohemians aren't bad either.

The CS wrapped regular VS are a total waste of time IMHO. I had a coupla VS Vintage a coupla years ago & wasn't impressed with them either.

I've got a sun grown, maduro, and corojo sitting in the humi right now thanks to Simplified. I'll make this one of the smokes that I try tomorrow since I haven't tried one of these yet. Thanks for the review.

Yes - green sun grown; yes same queer twangy start was worrisome, but, then nice into the first third, nicer into the middle and just boffo at the end. I honked it to fishhook, burned upper lip.

Liked the blue maduro more;
orange corojo is different and equally, masybe more, enjoyable;
can't remember what the yellow one is - grilled cheese? Haven't tried it yet.

I have a pretty decent stock of VS sticks, both Vintage and Series 55... And I like them all! For the price, they're a great "goin' fishin'" cigar.

On the "55s":

Red = Corojo
Blue = Maduro
Green = Sungrown
Yellow = Cameroon

I had a sun grown this morning and it was pretty decent. The draw was a little tight and had a hard time staying lit but I think that's cause I'm having some humidification issues and not the stick. It was mild - medium and a decent flavor. I'll have to wait till I try the others to really judge these sticks.

I really like the Victor Sinclair, they are quite reasonably priced. I've never met a Victor SInclair I didn't like either :)

But, in fairness, I've really only smoked 3-4 of the VS line.

Smoked the Cameroon version today. Reminded me why I dislike cameroon wrappers so much (LADC excluded).

The Series 55 Cameroon has adequate quality, can't say anything negative about the construction or burn. However, the taste leaves something to be desired. First inch was great, smooth, rich, and flavorful. Past the first inch brought on a slightly harsh spice. It wasn't a horrible cigar by any means, just not my style.

I think the Maduro version is much more enjoyable.
