Weather Stations?

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a model of wireless weather station to use in a coolador? I have seen several different models at a range of various prices. Not looking to break the bank but I didn't want to make an uninformed purchase and later regret it.

I would appreciate any advice you could offer.

I use a few Oregon Scientific indoor/outdoor units. Have one in each coolidor and my mini-cabinet. They work good and didn't cost a fortune. Cigarmony has a few at good prices and you also might try Target. I lucked out and caught a clearance sale and got one dirt cheap.

Thanks for the tip. Did you also use a calibrated hydrometer to verify accuracy?

I agree about the Oregon Scientific units, they work very well. I bought mine at Radio shack, but i'm pretty sure it was just a re-branded Oregon Scientific unit anyway.

I also agree about checking out Cigarmony, Mark is a great guy to deal with.

For calibration purposes, I bought a couple of the Boveda calibration bags and tested each remote sensor for the weather station seperately. None of them were far off, a point or two at the most.

I used to worry about remotely monitoring my humidors, but the beads keep them so dead steady that I bought a non-wireless one for more infrequent monitoring. I then used the extra money to buy more smokes! :2

As a gift, I was given the Oregon Scientific Wireless Thermo-Hygrometer & Atomic Alarm Clock with Projection (RMR606HGPA). You can get them for as low as $26. They support up to 3 remote sensors (unit comes with one remote). Great little unit. I tested the remotes against a Western Digital III and they all were within 0-2% RH. Great peace of mind for remote monitoring of RH in coolerdors and humi's.

Hope that helps. :tu
