Today I bought an Igloo 48qt cooler, 1/2lb Heartfelt 65% beads, 9 Slide top cedar cigar boxes, and a Palio cutter just to even things out. I'll get a digital Hygrometer once I find a decent one for a decent price. Any body know of a good brand? Do I need to get an Oust fan?

You do not need a fan for a cooler that small.

Beads are the way to go, just don't over hydrate them.
 
First thing, go ahead and take the cooler back and get a bigger one. You'll want to stock up so you can use that palio, so the 28qt won't be enough. Second, I don't use an oust fan in mine, although have been looking, so you should be good with the beads as long as you don't open/close too often.
 
Sounds like a free fall.At that rate I would agree with the bigger cooler. And don't worry, it'll be full in no time!
 
+1 on simply buying the LARGEST cooler NOW. It's inevitable.

You can always use the 48 qt for storing singles in trays. LOL.

Way to go. I have a 150qt cooler and a venotemp, and I had to go buy another 70qt cooler this weekend. I would have bought another 150qt, but I would have a hard time hiding that one form the Fiancee. have fun filling the new cooler.:tu
 
I was in the same boat as you about a month and a half ago. I went with the 120 qt. cooler and was surprised at how much easier it is to buy boxes when you know you have room for them. :tu Totally justified!

That is an excellent point.

Speaking from experience, there is no bigger PITA than getting a great deal on a full box and then NOT being able to fit it in the humidor...
 
Congrats. I just traded in my 50 qt cooler that has been good to me for 8 years for a 120 qt one today. I'm sick of playing tetris and enjoy all the room to admire my cigars.

8 years with a 50qt, you have great self controll. I filled my 150qt in a few months.:hn
