What is going on at C-Bid (Prices way UP)

I've been doing some stocking up myself lately on Cbid and it looks to me that buying boxes is where the good pricing is right now. Been able to pick up a couple boxes of one of my favorites that usually go on CI for 11 a stick box price for about the 6.5 to 7.5 range. The five packs on anything good get bid up to the CI prices and singles often go over retail. Anything from Padron goes for full retail. I was hoping to pick up a box of Padron 6000 maduros at a bargin price but have all but given up on that one.

I posted on this about 6 weeks ago. ( sorry it's late and I'm on my laptop so I can'tput the link on here tonight.-What's up with the devil site) anyway I have seen bids go 5-10-20 $ over the CI catalog price. With the Joe's daily deals and free shipping on your entire order and the many freebee's that you can get I'm not doing much bidding these days. On the other hand just be glad you did'nt win 200 bids last week. Can you imagine what your credit card bill would have looded like!

i think it worse on cigarauctioner. They are bidding on something and bidding higher than the normal famous price which would have included free shipping.

Chuck I agree. I have seen some stuff that makes me shake my head lately. For example, a box of Yellow Label CI Pepins going for $66 when you can get them for $69.99 off of CI and get free shipping, instant order processing, etc.

I remember getting steals on CBid a couple months ago, now it is few and far between.

2 weeks ago I did get a box of 5 Vegas Miami PC's for $44 though. :tu

I agree some of their prices have been pretty high lately...maybe it's just the summer influx and it will die down as the weather cools.

Noticed that some of those bids are by folks living in remote parts of the country. Not all of course, but noticeable.

I haven't bid in the last few weeks but that seems to be the trend lately.

That is a sign of newbieitis. Newbies tend to want to try singles and five packs to see what they like before they commit to a box.

I think it's a direct result of tax refunds and stimulus checks.
I wonder if you can see the trends on CHIMP for the same time period last year, or a little earlier in the year that would coincide with tax checks?
A lot of guys here have said they've specifically used their stimulus checks to pick up smokes, it's probably very common among us cigar buyers.

Cigar Insider had a story yesterday about smokers changing their habits. They surveyed a bunch of B&M owners who said people are smoking just as much but looking for value due to the economy. So I think that has probably pushed a lot of people who would have bought a box at the B&M to the net. And once on the net one of the first stops when you do a search is almost always a reference/link to CBid. Once there they have no point of reference other than the prices they are paying in the store so a bunch of those low priced fivers look like bargains.

At least that's my theory.

But hey, it's ok because you can beat CBid on a variety of sites now. And get your stuff shipped right away. CBid was unique a few years ago and still good for the bargain from time to time but many other online retailers beat them day in and day out. :2

Just checked out the list, and the bids are (with shipping) way over MSRP! Don't see why they just don't go to CI and order.

To qutoe Bill Shatner about Price Line. "We don't advertise the best price, we just give you the oppurtunity to bid your own price."
