what was the deal with this thread?

Yeah, me too. Missed it, but that line about using the review in any form the possessor wishes is a little scary.

All I know is that when I opened the thread, there was an unmarked sedan down the street that I haven't seen before. And a couple black helicopters over my house.

Based on the member ID and the fact the this was the first and only post this member posted I would have to say that one of the basic tenets of the "jungle" was stepped upon. In my humble observation it is generally frowned upon for a brand new member to come in and start tapping into the resource that is Club Stogie without introduction or even a howdy-do. :)

The moderator team is aware of the activity of Blind Review and the concerns of the membership. There is nothing at this time that warrants any actions or sanctions. I can give everyone my personal assurance that what is presented is on the up-and-up.

Yeah, this is probably someone on the MOD team or something, regardless, I'd have LOVED to have gotten in on this. I am quite bummed I missed it, in fact...

Can you confirm or deny any black helicopter activity in my area? I'm sure you already know where my area is.

I had the exact same thought. I'm always suspicious of a new user who pops in with some grand scheme right off the bat, regardless of the forum.
Seemed like an elaborate phishing attempt to me.
That thought crossed my mind as well. I would have been more receptive had it come from a member with some experience here.

Or an alter-ego. :D

Fair enough. And in your skepticism you made a choice not to respond/participate. No problem there at all.

As I said before, this is a legitimate effort on the part of Blind Review.

Don't misunderstand... I wasn't saying that in any negative context... I just figured it would be like Secret Santa or something. Something that someone in power/sanctioned by someone in power here was doing as another cool gesture.

Ohhh, a few here hinted at foul play. :tu

Never will I doubt that Peter knows stuff :D:D:D

No foul play.

It was good that the thread passed the scrutiny of a knowing mod. :D

I'm just saying, a guy comes in, no introduction, not profile information, first post he lays down a set of rules by which he wants to operate then solicits the names and home addresses of 10 members (implied by the fact that he will be sending out cigars). In the short time I have been here I have seen others drawn and quartered for such things. :mn

So it's "A Good Life", heh, heh. :D
