Which stick got you started?

My first smoke was a Davidoff Special R. My friend works at Davidoff and told me that was where to start. Frankly that man is a bastard because now I'm screwed for life.

It was a Macanudo Portofino. Many, years ago before smoking in bars was banned, the owner of the company that I worked for and myself were at a trade show in Chicago. We had a very nice dinner and went to the bar for some after dinner cocktails. He asked me if I would join him in having a cigar. Being a cigarette smoker I said sure. The rest as they say is history.

In college, I had a roomate aand an uncle, both of whom gave me occassional AF Double Chateaus.

One year my wife, knowing how much I enjoyed those Fuentes, bought me a small travel humidor for christmas 2002.

Soon after I was buying cigars for myself. My first box was Al Capones in June 2003 (big mistake!), then quickly began buying JR Alternative bundles (I still love the Cuban Alt-Monte #2)

Been on the slope for over five years now, gaining more speed and losing more money each year. Tonight, I will light my first God of Fire (long way from those Al Capones, huh?)

I hate to say it but about a year ago it was a Black and Mild got me started then later that night we were passin around a Romeo y Juiliet and from there it was all down hill and fast. While all my friends are still smokin backwoods Im enjoying a nice Padron #35

I sampled with Helix & Don Tomas for awhile but only after enjoying a R&J Reserve Real did I trully get hooked.

As I recall it was a CAO Brazilia Italia Rueda Hybrid for OVTC's 35th anniversary celebration. My buddy and I had just graduated highschool, walked in to the B&M, CAO was one of probably 2 brands we recognized and were supposed to be good, so asked what they had. Guy showed us these and we picked a couple up.

Wish I knew half of what I know now back then and we probably would of enjoyed them a lot more.

After smoking A&C Grenadiers along with cigs for many years,
about 6 months ago I ordered some Thompson "Old Timers"
because I wanted to try some real hand-rolled cigars.

Well,....they WERE hand-rolled. :) At least I learned my lesson
about Thompson's and have tried many since. Most from TxMatt's
suggestions. Thanks, man.

Romeo y Julieta Churchill Tubos. I was suckered in by the sleek silver tube. Wasn't quite hooked right away, but I saw the appeal of cigar smoking and it took off from there.

Good old Macanudos, I tried all kinds of different ones... I remember a nice double corona sized one, but I forget the name. After that, more and more macs, then onto pretty much everything else when I started looking for stronger tastes. :)

Sadly, I flew into Cuba once to deliver baggage and got the opportunity to buy whatever I wanted, but that was about 3 months before I started caring whatsoever about cigars. :tg

Probably a Henry Clay Brevas from my Granddad. I was a Backwoods man/boy/teen before that.:ss
I liked the Clint Eastwood. It made my 80lb, skinny physique look cool. :D

Mine was the Punch, Lunch club in madruo because my B&M had a buy ten cigars and get one free card my free one I picked was the first release Rare corojo it was good and I went from there to the slope.

+1 I started with Acid Blondie and Jucy Lucy myself, then I started hanging out at the local humidor and they started educating me, my palate got better......

Acid Blondie all the way baby!
Yea, i was hooked on those lovely blue beauties!
So glad i branched out :dr

I started 11 years ago with White Owls. Mind you, this was when I thought distinquished men smoked cigars. Over the years I worked my way up through Macanudos and had a few Cubans when I was in Cancun. My trip down the slope began with a Gurhka that up until I joined CS, I had no idea which one it was (turns out it was a Warlord!). Been going down the slope ever since!

Joya de Nicaragua. 19 years old, walking around smoking that stick. Not a good idea for a first time smoke. I still enjoy them now and again, I just make sure to sit down for them now.
:ss
