Who else has a problem with too much saliva after exhaling the smoke?

Yesterday I smoked a Carlos Torano Virtuoso, which was very tasty BTW, however I noticed that I make/have a lot of saliva after I exhale the smoke.

What I do is hold the smoke in my mouth for a few seconds then I blow it out. Most of the time I will spit it out(for a lack of a better term) but yesterday I swallowed a little bit and it upset my stomach.

Is making too much saliva common, has it happened to you and what can I do to resolve this problem.

one of my main issues when I smoke is that I must be near a spitoon of some sort; Gatorade bottle, beer can, the ground, anything except the floor. I just have to clear my mouth after every draw. Many people think I am dipping while I smoke. whatever. I have no solution for you, I just have accepted it and make sure I have some time of way to expel.

I used to have that problem when I started. Not anymore. Even though I do notice if I smoke something not so tasty I spit a lot.

I have noticed this trend when cigars leave a bitter taste in my mouth.

Is there anything I can do to avoid that nasty bitter taste.

I've always spitted nearly after every draw but I've noticed I've been doing it less and less now. Yesterday I nearly went through a whole RP "The Edge" without spitting. Only did like 2-3 times. I just think it's something you get more accustomed to over time. How long you been smoking?

I spit all the time when I smoke. Just watch out for the saliva police. If they come lock the doors, and hope they don't have blasters.

I've only been smoking since April of this year. I've noticed that not all cigars have this effect on me. From now on I'm going to pay closer attention to find out what types of cigars trigger this.

I wonder if its OK to swallow the saliva. Yesterday I swallowed it (lets not get side tracked here) without anything to drink and it upset my stomach.

I will try that next time. Hopefully I wont get sick.

If I don't have a drink, I can't swallow it, end up spitting.
If I do have a drink, I don't notice a problem.

:tpd::tpd:I always have something to drink when I am smoking. Plain water for most smokes, but if I am going to smoke something I know to be strong like an LFD or a JdN, I will grab a sugared soda. :2

At the risk od sounding like a snob I will say that I only have this issue with MOST NC's.

As others have said. The saliva is only a problem when not drinking. When I have a drink I guess I just swollow the saliva with the wine/whiskey and dont notice it.

I love to have a nice glass of red with a cigar.

Personally, I almost always have a drink and I STILL need the stupid spit can. I think it's more habit now than anything.

Yeah, I have this problem myself. As stated before, a drink always helps. I like lighter flavored drinks (Monster, Sprite, tea, etc.) to not overwhelm/complicate the flavor of the cigar. If I'm outdoors, I spit maybe every 3-4 draws, if I'm indoors, I try to contain it better. I have a few friends (mostly non-smokers) who just don't understand it and think it's gross. I don't know what to say...I spit a few times a day as it is, but something about the smoke just gets those saliva glands going.

I always end up having a pool of drool when I'm done smoking a cigar- usually doesn't matter what type. Many of my fellow smoker do the same thing. Good thing we smoke outside otherwise the maid would get mad...
