Who is actively aging NC's?

Addiction

Gentleman Jim Stogie
I'm curious about this.

Now when I mention aging I mean for a period of at least 5 years. Anything less than 5 I think is a rest period.

So again, is anyone actively doing this?

Not at this time... and probably wont... cant let cigars sit around that long... and to a certain point aging is over hyped.. but this is alway subjective... :tu..

I don't have many NCs anymore, but all my aging is pretty passive. I just sit my smokes at the bottom of the cooler and they require no activity on my part.

:tpd::tpd:If by "aging" we mean they sit undisturbed because I don't see myself smoking them anytime soon......yes, I am aging some, but they haven't been in there for your requisite 5 years......but they will be.:r

Yes, mainly Opux X that I've stockpiled. I'll probably smoke some before 5 years, but I'm sure some will sit for that long or longer.

Not by design or choice.

But circumstance certainly dictate that some of my stock will age for a half-decade or more. (I have waaaaaaaay too many cigars ... and the deliveries just keep on rolling in.)

:tpd: I am in the same situation. Just another reason I send cigars to the troops - to make room for new ones I want to try. I mentioned a while back in a similar thread that I still have a few cigars from my very first order almost two years ago. Crazy, I know...

Yes, that was quite a bomb you got. :ss

I read somewhere that aging NCs is pointless, unlike Cs. Dunno, I guess there are probably as many opinions on that as there are stars in the heavens. I've had a few NCs aging a coupla years just because my inventory isn't FIFO!

I find most NC cigars smoke pretty well after about 3-6 months of rest so I find no need to wait 5+ years to smoke them. Like a previous poster said, I have waaaaaaaaay too many cigars and I'm sure some will still be there in five years time. But it won't be "active" aging. :ss

5 years? Does it affect the taste that much? Heck, mine barely makie it 5 weeks now.....used to be 5 days....before then it was 5 minutes.

I have quite a stockpile from 04-06, they are slowly getting smoked though.

I consider most cigars to prime around 2 years undisturbed time. Some take longer or shorter times, but I've had a nearly 7 year old Davidoff and an identical 1 year old one and the difference between them was as little as the difference between a good batch and a bad batch.

More or less I also follow the advice Zino himself once gave...a cigar is meant to be smoked and enjoyed...it has no value sitting in a box, so smoke them while you can.

I have many cigars that are over 5 years old. I didn't age any of them myself. I have a few boxes that I have put away for a long rest, but for me that means about a year.

I like making time bombs. Putting together a sampler pack of various cigars, then putting them all in the same box with a "do not smoke until xx/xx/xxxx" note.

No, I am smoking all my NC's The reason I have NC's is so that my CC's can age a bit more
