Why I support the troops.

Cloaca Maxima
John (papajohn67) and I are asking you to share with us why you have chosen to support our troops. I'll begin this by sharing a few reasons why I support our troops.

I support the troops because I'm an older man and to many young men will never have this opportunity.

I support the troops because I have lived in silence and only listened to the ignorance of others.

I support the troops because it has allowed me to make amends to my memories.

I support the troops because I believe a cigar can bring men together and give them a moment in time to comfort each other.

I support the troops because their sacrifices have allowed us to disagree with each other.

I support the troops because when I see the pictures of the men smoking our cigars, we are responsible for those smiles.

I support the troops because I refuse to allow the silence of apathy to have a voice.

I support the troops because I'm selfish. I love me when I do.

I can't improve on perfection, Fred, so I won't try.

But I will continue to support the Troops along with you and so many other wonderful CS Gorillas. :)

I served in the Navy from 1990-1994, while I was in Saudi Arabia I smoked alot of cigars, both local and sent from the USA. We all really enjoyed hanging out, smoking, talking about home. Getting something from the US really made us feel appreciated. Now, a few friends and I send a package which always includes cigars every month.:tu

I support the troops because I was a troop.

I support the troops because of my comrades and friends who never returned.

Friends like Mark G Stickels Sgt E-5, KIA Vietnam, April 4, 1968 101st ABN, 2nd/502nd Recon Platoon.

So many lost but never forgotten.

Very nice thread, Fred.

I support the troops because of what they stand for and the sacrifices they make.

I support the troops because you never stop being a soldier.

Nicely stated Fred! When I was in the Navy in the 70's there was very little appreciation for the military. I am proud of the people here and many others that now show the respect our servicemen and women deserve!

Cause my old man was in the 101st Airborne, and I thought I would follow his steps, if not in another branch. I will pull my 20 years with one last, hard stretch deploying to Iraq and many places around the world. We shall see what happens from there. Go USA!

I support the troops for my Dad (miss you pop) 40 years of service.

I support the troops because I never had the chance to serve.

I support the troops because I want to say thank you for your service.

I support the troops because my father was in the service.

I support the troops because it makes me feel good that I do.

I support the troops because of them I can sit on my porch and have a cigar without fear.

I support the troops because I want them to have a few minutes of peace with a cigar.

I support the troops because I want them to know they are appreciated.

I support the troops because I want them to know someone cares.

I support the troops because I want them to know they are not forgotten.

I support the troops because I am an American.

My dad fought in Germany in WWII. He was always proud of the military and this great country.
My wife has been in the Naval Reserve for 14 years and is currently deployed in GTMO.
I support the military because the do what they do so we can do what we do.
I have nothing but respect and admiration for all who are serving and who have served. The sacrafices they have made, many times with their lives, allows me the freedom to live in this great country!

Thank you and God Bless any of you serving or who have served.

I support the troops for many of the above posted reasons.

I support the troops because my father was a German POW for 18 months.

I support the troops for one other simple reason - It's the right thing to do.

Great Grandfather (Anton) - Army, WW1

Grandfather (Ed) - CCC (he had flat feet)

Uncle (John) - Air Force, WW2

Father (Les) - Army, 1955

Uncle (Ron) - Air Force, 1963

Me - Army, 1989

I support the troops because it's in my blood, and it is a way of life very few truly understand.

I support the troops because even though I don't have family I do have friends that are currently in the sandbox. If I can brighten at least one soldier's day by sending something as simple as a letter and a few cigars then my mission is complete. :tu

I support because I served in the Marine Corps 1975-1983 in a bunch of little non descript S#@T holes, One called Beirut Lebanon.

I support to Honor Men Like PappaJohn67 and Mark G Stickels Sgt E-5, KIA Vietnam, April 4, 1968 101st ABN, 2nd/502nd Recon Platoon, And all the others who went before me and who taught me The things I needed to know to survive.

I support to Honor my Step Son Sgt. Daniel Hunter, B Co. 75th Ranger Rgt. On his forth tour in Iraq.

I support because In my heart I am still one of them.

I support the troops because they do what I am too afraid to do.

I support the troops because I want this world to be as good to my three children as it has been for me.

I support the troops because without our support their efforts are pointless.

I support the troops because they do what I believe I wish I could but were I faced with it in actuality, I have my doubts as to whether I would have the courage to do so.

That may not make sense to you guys, but I know what I mean.

To be totally honest, I never really gave the whole "support the troops" thing much thought until I started on this forum. I really didn't know what I could do or if it would matter. I saw the pics from the grateful soldiers and was really moved. The faces I see in these pictures show much more than some guys that are happy to get some cigars. They reveal strong men & women who are pushed to their limits every day and NEED to know we care and those crazy cigars are a symbol of much more than a good smoke. It's very evident that the Support the Troops efforts here are one of the best placed thank you's that we can provide.

I humbly am able to give back so little to troops who give so much on a daily basis and have the potential to give the ultimate sacrfice at anytime so that we can remain "The Home of the Free!!

I simply do cause I can imagine the smile when a troop lights up that smoke and a smile appears on their face:ss
