Did some mild research and couldn't come up with any sources. Anyone know why my favorite vitola is named in French and not Spanish?

Yeah - I know. It's because most people can't find this key "ñ" on the keyboard.

I don't know if it is right or not, but it is so well presented... I buy it. :tuIt all started in 1884. The cigar manufacturers were concerned about the state of cigars becoming bigger and bigger and a emergency meeting was held. At said meeting it had been determined that there was only one person that was actually to blame for this ever expanding ring guage problem. H. upmann himself. They all figured the man was trying to over compensate for ahhhh shall we say "short commings". So as not to make him feel even more inferior they gave him the nickname "Petit" Corona and the giggled hysterically. They thought thiis was pretty clever since Mr. Upmann did not speak french.
In 1904 a friend told Upmann what the joke was all about and in a form of revenge he has never again made a cigar larger than a 50 ring guage.
Any more questions just feel free to ask....I am a warehouse of useless information....:r
why is you mind always on your petit corona Carlos:r:chkI swear I had no clue.
Interesting how they named any of them to be exact.
I was going to take a wild guess and say some Cuban got insulted when he was called "pequeño". I know I would.
He then said, "honey, that is my corona" (meaning, that is my crown, as in jewel).
Wife, having recently returned from a trip to France (like Cubans could go there) then said, "honey, if that is your corona, then it must be petit".
And there we have it.
A small crown amongst jewels.
