Worst Online Retailer?

Lots of great feedback on websites we trust/recommend. What about the other end of the spectrum? Anybody have a negative experience they can share to help the rest of us steer clear of potential traps?

I've been lucky in that I've never been outright swindled or received fakes--but I will say that I will no longer order form Cigar.com as multiple orders of singles have arrived with damaged/chipped foots (or would that be 'feet?)--and for some reason, a number of Padilla 8/11 Bellicosos I've ordered from them have swelled and burst. I wouldn't chracterize them as the "worst", however, as they do have one of the web's best selections (if very expensive).

Look forward to your thoughts!

Thompson's is easily the worst online/mailorder company. They suck. The cigars suck, the phone calls suck, everything sucks. I never even ordered from them and I still get spammed with their junk filled catalogues!

While I have had some bad house blends from some retailers, I have never had poor customer service from a single one....jusy lucky, I guess.

I've ordered from about a dozen online vendors and CVM in Miami is the only one I had a problem with and will not do business with them anymore.

Thats too bad. I have ordered from CVM a few times and always had a good experience. One time they sent me the wrong cigars, but when I notified them they sent me correct order and let me keep the cigars they sent in error.

When I used to call Mike's Cigars, before the website, they were pretty pushy about adding no-name stuff to my order. Theyn were always prompt in their shipping. The hard-sell was kinda off putting.

Thompson's is the worst I've ever dealt with.

Though I have never ordered from them...I somehow got on their mailing list. I find it "safe, entertaining, and amusing" reading their catalog cause I know I'll probably never order from them. The catalog that scares me is the Holt's catalog. I can do some real damage to the credit card after reading that one.

Bargainhumidors.com

they sell accessories. ordered from them once and had an error with the order. took them forever to fix the problem, but they eventually did. i know others had issues with them, and it was written about on CS.

I actually have had good experiences with Thompson
Every now and then they have excellent deals.
There customer service is a bit slow but I have bought $150 worth of cigars for $59.

When it comes to online I am all about price. I have one vender that is about at wholesale on there prices. cigarplace is by far the cheapest.

I've used a few, I would have to say Thompson is the worst, they take forever to pick and ship, and never seem to ship the whole order always something on back order.

I also get their catalog occasionally and find that it is so profoundly crappy that it is no wonder the rest of the company is bad.

I havn't seen one one a couple of months, but the ones I received in the past looked cheap, were poorly organized, had bad pictures and reeked of cheapess. If Oriental Trading Company sold cigars, it would be the Thompson catalog.

I would not trust that my cigars had been stored in the proper conditions based on what their catalog looked like.

Just my $0.02

I bought a sampler from them before I knew what I was doing. The cigars in the picture on their website looked great. Good brands, decent sizes. The cigars I received were all of the smallest, cheapest vitolas Thompson could get their hands on. They also took forever to ship.

Every other retailer has been great. I've had issues with CI/cbid's packing and their cigars being wet but they are always willing to replace anything damaged in transit and wet cigars can be fixed by dry boxing them for a while.

On the other hand, Taboo/Town and Country has been great to me. Excellent prices and personal service that you won't find anywhere else (cookies!). Famous really impressed me with their packaging--big boxes with lots of air pillows--and their cigars don't seem as wet as CI's.

I look forward to trying out New Havana someday. I've heard nothing but excellent things about them.

I did the XiKar deal with them for splits a couple times, 3 for $72 shipped. Didn't have a single problem, and $24 for a XiKar 2 ain't a bad deal. :2
