Wrapper Came Off??

Grumpy Dano

Lost In The Jungle
I already posted in a review on the Perdomo Cameroon Cabinet series and it is one of my favorites smokes. I had one today and the wrapper totally started falling apart the moment I started. It has been in my humidor for 4-5 months and this has never happened before.

My humi has always been 65-70 % and have never had this happen before to any sticks.

I went on a smoked it all the way and the taste was still very good but I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what it may have been caused by?

Thanks and God Bless you all!

No matter what you do this can happen. Probably faulty construction. It is only if it happens regularly that you should be concerned that there is a storage issue of some sort.

It started coming off about 1/2" in and it sort of just fell apart into small pieces. I mean there was no saving it, it happened so fast, but still the remaining smoke was good as always just strange....

Yup, happens sometimes. Pretty random for me, it may be because the wrapper leaf was too thin or stretched too much. You only need to worry if it occurs regularly or with the same stick. Then it could be a humidity problem or a bad batch of smokes. :2

This is fairly common with a cameroon wrapper it is a very delicate. Very tasty wrapper.

By common I'd say 1 in 50 or so will have some sort of problem and 1 in 10 of those will be as bad as yours.

Typically caused by a bump or rough handling at some point.

I have had this happen and just continue to smoke the cigar as usual. I found it surprising that it really doesn't inhibit the smoking experience at all but the visual of the wrapper coming off like that is a bit irritating. Makes me wonder if the wrapper is really all that when it comes to smoking our cigars? Wonder if anyone has ever really done a "blind wrapper" test where you smoke two cigars being the same with the wrapper being taken off one of the test cigars? I wonder if we really could tell a big difference?

I had the same thing happen with a Rocky Patel Fusion this morning. It seemed to be fine for about the first third of the smoke, then the wrapper totally unraveled. Strange. The cigar smoked fine, though.

Bummer! :gn

Wow, I've never had that happen from that end of the cigar. I've had the wrapper start to unravel from clipping it a little too aggresively, but never toward the foot of a cigar. I agree with the others that said probably due to construction problems or msihandling at some point.:2

happened to a CAO VR this morning. Didnt seem to change the stick just looked like crap. I work alone so who cared.
