xikar question

Evolving Lead Gorilla
i bought i fiber glass xikar about a month ago and i loved it for about three weeks, until fathers day. i bought my dad some graycliffs and we chilled and smoked em, then he was admiring my cutter and he opened it up and the dam spring fell out. i thought that xikar's were supposed to be practically indistructable, but some how i managed to break mine in less than a month. i took it back up to where i got it and they said thay would order me another one for free.

well my question is has anybody had a bad experience with these cutters? or heard of one breaking that fast? when i bought it my guy told me that it'll last me the rest of my life, but it crapped out after 3 weeks. he almost had a heart attack after i told him what happened:)
thanks

1st off, YOURS DID NOT BREAK. if you re-read what you just typed, especially the bolded and underlined part, that sounds like YOUR DAD broke it, through no fault of the manufacturer....

xikar is a class act in customer service. i have heard of the punch's screws coming loose, but all you have to do is be mindful of your equipment, and when you notice that, tighten it up...

other than that, i've heard nothing bad about xikars....
except when someone opens one up when they shouldn't have and the spring comes out. ;)

i'm confused how you think it was the xikars fault, though?? it's like tinkering with your cars engine then blaming the manufacturer when it breaks down....

Heck if I know the model name but I have a couple of Xikars.
One of them is that nice one with the rosewood on it.
They both work like a charm and I can't think of anything other than positive to say about them.
I think the company puts out quality so any of their products should be a nice treat.

Don't sweat it BigALemos. Every manufacturer can produce a lemon now and then, regardless of reputation or price paid. It sounds like the important part is exactly as one would expect from a quality manufacturer like Xikar. It will be replaced for free because your store and Xikar both stand behind the product. Have faith in this purchase. It was a good one.

Xikar customer service is excellent.

If, on normal operation (i.e., opening it up), it falls apart, I'm certain that defect will result in a rapid replacement from Xikar. I have heard of that defect occurring before.

if i misread what you mean by "opening it up", sorry.

sounded to me like your dad was taking it apart, or that's how i read it. my fault.

I have had my Xi(aluminum frame) for a little over a year and no problems. I've heard, like everyone has stated, that they have excellant customer service.

I had one of the Xikar cutters. Mine went dull after about six months. They took it back and had another in the mail a couple days later. I found them to be very helpful.
