Xikars are great, just don't drop them!

It was looking like a great night until I just went outside to the deck to enjoy an Oliva Serie V Belicoso and dropped my cutter 3 feet to the deck below. To my horror, I looked down to see it had practically exploded. I can only assume there are pieces inside of it because it won't close to make the regular cutting motion. Has anyone else had this happen to them or am I just unlucky? I suppose I should look into picking up a Palio fairly soon as I just gave my other Xikar to my Father. I was really looking forward to that smoke too! :hn

Bring it to your retailer or send it to Xikar and they will fix it or give you a new one:tu

Edit: As mentioned...

You could probably send it back for a new one. I believe they have a lifetime warranty.

Yup...ran mine through the washer and dryer accidently and it fell apart. They sent me a new one.

You could blow off the end of the cigar with a .38 wadcutter.:r On a more serious note, they have replaced cutters for less valid reasons. Good luck. Paul

I just sent mine back today. As far as I know I didn't do anything to it. I tried to open it up to cut a cigar and two thin strips of metal slid out. I miss it already.

Oh wow, I didn't know that was possible! Thanks guys I will have to send it back and see what happens. Still a good reason to pick up a palio :ss.

Yes, send it to Xikar or take it to a dealer who sells Xikar products.

Xikar does have a lifetime warranty and there shouldn't be any trouble getting it fixd or replaced.

I own a Xikar and a Palio, the two best cutters in the world, and they both have the same kind of warranty. Haven't had a need to get either one of them serviced but I know that both companies have excellent customer service to go along with their fantastic cutters.

Cheers,
Rob

I keep at least 10 cheap cutters around in case the good ones go down. You can get the cheapos for $1 to $2/piece I think at Cig Intl

Ditto on keeping the ole $2 one for emergencys and for me bike trips. On the other hand no exploding or fragile parts I can see on my Palio and I love the cut!

I've done this numerous times with my Xikar. Managed to get it back together and smooth after some tweaking every time. Sounds like when you put it back together the springs are binding. It can be fixed with a little patience and playing with it. I won't lie. It was a PITA but they will go back together.

Haha, this exact thing happened to me too. I felt a little guilty for getting a product that I broke replaced free but I guess that's part of building a reputation for a company like Xikar.

You paid for the warranty when you paid that much money for the cutter :tu

Xikar is great to deal with. Ship them back the parts in whatever order you can and they will fix, repair, or ship you a new cutter free of charge.:D
