I just received a box of Excalibur 1066 Dark Knight III which I bought for my future BIL's birthday in Feb. I made the huge mistake of looking at them in the box. I'm not sure if I can resist. They look awesome. What should I do? Do I smoke one and try and tell him it's a 19 count box? Do I smoke a few and replace them with some randoms and tell him it's a sampler? Perhaps there are some nice gorillas here who would watch them for a few weeks. I guess I could always just go ahead and get myself a box. These things look just fantastic.

If you really can't stand the temptation, pick up a single or two from your local B&M but if you can survive the wait, the cigars will taste that much better!

Let this be a lesson to you. If you want to gift someone with cigars, buy at least twice the amount you intend to give as a gift, or buy on the way to give the gift up. You can't believe this is the first time any of us have faced the same dilemma, do you? This is actually a common problem. Buy gifts of your favorite smokes, but never forget to take care of yourself, otherwise it becomes a torture session as the sticks take up a greater and greater part of your consciousness, until you crack that box. By then, the game is over.

Just call your BIL, explain your situation and discuss it over a couple of sticks from said box. On the morrow go forth and purchase another box for the special occasion.

Give him a 5'er. Ask him to smoke them all and if he likes them to let you know. Maybe it'll take about a month or so, then get him a box. By then you can replenish your funds and you're lady will understand a little better. If she really understands, or you don't have a lady to contend with, you can order yourself a box of another brand to help make the shipping cheaper. It's all win/win.

Take them over to him (if he lives nearby) as an early B-Day present!!! Explain how you were curious about their quality, and being the aficionado that you are, you would be willing to give him some help with quality control.

All excellent suggestions. Particularly the suggestions that had me smoke a few before passing them on. Would you believe it though, the answer was sitting in my mailbox. Shortly after posting to this wise and experienced bunch I found a refund check in my mailbox. Seems all of my assorted insurance policies qualify me for a "multi-policy" discount from my carrier. Their check will surely cover a box for myself. New problem though, can I get a full replacement box here in time for the birthday?
