Your Opinions on a Few Cigars

I was curious what you gorillas thought of the following cigars:

Arturo Fuente Exquisitos - I've tried a couple of these but haven't made up my mind. I'm looking for a small smoke to go to.

Indian Tabac Cigars - These are dirt cheap in the CI catalog and I was wondering if they're worth trying.

Candela Wrappers - I've been meaning to try one of these but I can't find one in a tobacco store around me anywhere. Do any of you guys like these? Are there any brands that are particuarly exceptional?

Thanks for the input.

Arturo Fuentes are great if you like their flavor profile, there are many other good short sticks (Gran Habanos, CAO Brazilia Pirhana, HDM Oscuro Rothchild, Fuente's Chateu maduro, the list can go on and on)
Indian Tabac-Have not tried it yet, although it seems to be a staple of some people around here.
Candela wrappers- way too mild for my taste.

I hate to say it, but the bid site can get you a better deal. Stock up on fivers or ten packs, let them settle 2-3 weeks and try 'em out. I realy like the IT maddy's, corojos are OK, xfuerte are great too. The 90's and 92's are a good cigar also, but not dirt cheap.

Cbid definetly has some good deals of IT. I think the cameroons are prob the best in that line personally.

Good small smoke? Parti Shorts :D

Candela- Very mild. I've tried Don Thomas, Fuente, and Graycliff candela's and like the Graycliff the best. Interesting flavor, but mega bucks.

Got an order in a couple of weeks back from Cigars Interantional. They threw me a freebie 10 pack of Idian Tabac Ltd. Reserve Bear. I liked them enough to go by a bundle of Cigar bid. Cheap and good only cost me about $35.

i know some individuals who absolutely hate indian tabac but I happen to be a fan of them. I have also had Fire, not nessessarily an IT but made by Rocky Patel, you kinda have to be in the mood for them. I recall the Maduro IT's being rather full bodied, I have a box that is scheduled to arrive tuesday. The fellow at the smoke shop informed me that RP has sold the rites to Indian Tabac and they will be made by someone else, I forget who.. I have no idea if this is accurate but two seperate individuals have told me this little tidbit of info, that may be why they are being sold for so cheap.

I got a 5er of indian tabac from c-bid. I loved em, then I bought a box and hated them, they need a lot of age if bought in the box. But once aged they are great :2

AF exquisito maduro is an awesome 15 minute cigar. They do seem to have cosistency issues though. Every so often a so so box appears, still good smokes though. I like them fresh with no age on them at all.

I have only had 1 Indian Tabac so I can't pass judgement yet. The one I had was just OK.

Not a fan of candela at all. I have tried about five and feel they are too mild and sweet, kinda like a flavored cigar. :2

Not a fan of the Exquisitos. They're loose and burn quite hot. The best cigar in that size and price range that I've tried is the Cohiba Pequenos. Say what you want about the Red Dots, but they make a damn good tin of cigars.

I like most of the IT's that i have had. But for the price that i have paid for them- I love them. I usually pay $5-7 for a five pack, and bundles of 20 for around $30.

Candela Wrappers? I hate them. Only smoked a couple, but don't want to smoke another. JMHO

I can only comment on the IT. I really like the IT super fuerte's both maduro and non. I liked them before I found out they were cheap and even more when I did. Now I have about 50 or so mixed aging in the humi. Yes I do think aging can really help them though. Just MHO of course.

TXMatt's :2:

Arturo Fuente Exquisitos: decent cigars however I like the Padron Corticos better though in little cigars like these.

Indian Tabac Cigars - I like IT cigars a LOT. My favorite IT line is the Cameroon Legend; but the Extra Fuerte, Cuban Corojo, Classic lines are all excellent as well. Frequently on the Devil's site you can get a full box of Indian Tabacs for under $35 and few cigars can compete at substaintially more.

Candela Wrappers - airball / carboard / :pu. I may some day try a Greycliff Emerald however until I run across one of those I will avoid smoking candela.

-Matt-

I would try the Brevas Maduro if you are looking for a cheap AF cigar. Not flashy at all but you do get a fairly good smoke.

The IT cam legend is an outstanding cigar. I wish I had more, Galaga was nice enough to send me one in a sampler pack.

No experience with the wrapper.

You can't beat the AF if you're a mild to medium guy and want a small smoke (for price and quality).......if you want a little more pop, try the CAO Brazilia Piranha and/or the JdN Machito........they are little cigars with a lot of strength and flavor.

IT's are a boutique cigar that come in A LOT of varieties......some I've liked a lot and some I don't like at all........my advice is to try samplers.....CI sells em'.........and so does the devil's site (LOL at TXMATT!!).

As for Candelas.......I like stronger cigars as a rule; however, once in a while I like a good candela cigar. They are MILD but imho have a distinct flavor. I would try the AF 858 or one of the JR Ultimates (many come in candela).

enjoy!

Wow, its nice seeing that this many people like Indian Tabac. I thought I was alone here! Ken, Thanks for the advice on aging them, I'll be sure to do that. The RP Fire that I let sit in my humidor for 30 days seemed much better than the ones that I didn't age. I'll be sure to let my Maduro's sit for some time.

I smoked a candela. I think it was a DonTomas if my memory serves me correctly. It was absolutely terrible and you are 100% correct by saying they taste like cardboard! This was perhaps the worst cigar I have ever smoked..I was actually ashamed to be smoking it too.. When I would pull up to a stop light I held it down low, hiding it to be curtious to the other drivers so they don't have to witness such a catastrophe.

I like the Exquisitos, but I've never had the little Padrons that TxMatt recommended--I'll have to get some to try.

For the money, I too would recommend ITs (I'm especially fond of the extra fuertes), but definately try out a bunch of them because, as others have said, there are many options.

The only candela I had was an 8-5-8. I wouldn't say it was gross or terrible, but it certainly isn't a cigar I'll buy again. If it tells you anything though, my girlfriend at the time thought it was pretty cool (dead giveaway in my book).

Sometimes aging em makes a big difference. Especially a year or so. Try aging a IT SF especially. They're great. JMHO

The verdict is still out on the Exquisitos, I had 2 of the maduros and 2 of the naturals. I just ordered a tin of corticos with my box of fumas from cheapercigars.com, will report back.

My eyes are open for a good deal on a box of IT. With a little luck I'll find something on CBid.

Have yet to try the Claro wrapper. I was going to order a 5-pack of 858s but after what I read I thought I'd wait. A local tobacco store told me they were getting some so Ill have to atleast give it a try.

Thanks for all the educated opinions, I will report back when I have gathered a little more data.

Really guys, thanks again.

Over and Out,
