Z-Plus Insert Travel

I was wondering if anyone here has carried on a Zippo with the Z-Plus Insert. I know the ban for "common lighters" has been removed for quite some time and I've flown with the regular throw away lighters and matches. I fly just about every weekend and would like to carry one of my Zippos with the insert. Do normal Zippos, Duponts, etc fall into the "common lighter" category? I'm talking the normal soft flame lighter, non-torch style. I see them as all "common" style flame but it's up to TSA to decide based off their "common sense" bs. I've asked several different TSA people and they all give me different answers. Some say only throw aways and Zippos are allowed. Anything else refillable is checked baggage only. Some have told me all refillable non-torch style is good for carry on. I did a search and I only found one post claiming that they were able to bring it on the plane just because the Zippo case is recognizable and no one actually checked it. Help please if anyone has any personal experience.

I think you answered your own question. TSA regs will now allow 'soft' flame lighters as carry on, NOT torch type. So the question you need to ask is are you willing to risk taking your Z-plus insert through security on the chance it won't be checked?
