65 or 70%?

In my opinion it also depends on the cigars. There are certain cigars that, for me, smoked and burned better at around 60%. I have smoked quite a few Connecticut wrapper cigars that will crack and split if they are stored at a higher humidity. I had some cigars that didn't burn worth a lick at 65% but smoked like a dream at 60%. So now I keep 1 small desktop at 60% for those finnicky cigars and try to keep everything else between 62-65%. :ss

Started with 70%, had many burn problems with the thicker wrapper cigars. Went to 65% and no problems with any of my cigars.

One thing that may be considered a fact, do not allow the humidity to vary a lot. This will cause swelling and shrinkage of the wrapper and eventually cracking.

I actually keep mine between 62-64%, they just seem to burn better for me. :2

I've noticed this too.......

While I don't actually have any media configured for 62-64, I do pull a stick out of the 65% humi about 30 minutes before I light it up and leave it exposed on the counter top. In the arizona climate, this saps around 2-3% total RH out of the cigar, which almost always leads to a better burn in my experience, AND more pronounced flavors. I can still pull a stick straight from 65% and get great performance, but if I have the time I always do the 30-minute staging thing to drop a couple points.......

In regards to those mentioning climate as a concern for the selection of your beads, I wouldn't worry about it. I've ran the same beads/humi combination both in Chicago summer and winter, and Phoenix summer and winter, and so long as there is a decent seal, the external climate doesn't affect the performance of the beads whatsoever. The 65% beads I got from heartfelt are just as stable out here in AZ as they were in IL. In fact, they seem to stand up to the low RH in AZ very well (times I've left the humidor ajar, etc.)

The coolerdor that I have my boxes in is set to 65.

60 in my desktop for the smokes Im going to have in the next couple months.
