Annoying R.P. website

I went to the Rocky Patel website to see what I could find out about the Nording cigar. Wow, what an experience that was. Hey! I'm not getting any younger. I don't want to take the time to wait for pages to load and load and load. (I'm on cable modem so it's not slow.) I don't need to see or hear Rocky on every page, either. Geesh.

BTW, I'm smoking a Nording this a.m with coffee. Pretty nice.

Dang, that is an annoying site. Thanks though for reminding me that I have a Nording buried in my stash somewhere. Didn't know it was an RP product but I guess I'll go dig it up.

By the way, have you had an Olde World Reserve Maduro? Everyone seems to like them - I finally tried the one I've had resting and although it had some promise it turned my fingers brown. Are they dyed?

Yup, same experience here. The new website is obnoxious and tacky.

I agree, annoying site. Providing the link to the site in post where you complain about it is funny though. Reminds me of an Ellen DeGeneres bit where she's saying its funny when people say, "Oh this muffin is terrible....do you want to taste it? You've got see how bad it is...." I'm butchering the joke, but you get it. :D

I've not had an Olde World Reserve maduro. I mainly smoke the "R.P. Seconds" and "Factory Selects". I think the OWR's would ruin my "average" as they cost way more than I like to spend on cigars. The disadvantages of being "frugal" (sound a lot better than some other words one might use:))

I may enter that in the "10 Worst Websites of 2008" contest. I think it has a real shot at winning or at least placing in the top 3 or 4.

LOL. Rocky just materializes from the ether in order to slow-talk you into a blissful slumber.

Seriously, is the site laggy, or does he take a 5 second breathing pause between each sentence? It's like he's so overwhelmed with the "Rocky Patel Lifestyle" that he's actually transcended language, and finds it a burden to use human-speak.

Also, where's he from? He doesn't have much of an accent (not that it affects the cigars).

I'm in agreement here, I think its way better than the old site that was missing most of the product lines. Its tacky, and probably mostly bullsh*t but I don't care. I love to hear people yap about their cigars, whether it be RP, or Pete Johnson or whoever. On the flip side, I could see how it would annoy.

I have FIOS and the webpages loaded quite fast, almost as if there was no video.
 
Nice .. I wish I could come and go in a flash of light. Pretty strange for that to be the default starting page and not on some secondary "Rocky Welcomes you" page. The About Us View our Crew page is also freaky.
 
That is a nice intro page and I did like it but I can understand your position. There are a lot of sites out there now with intro pages but most of them have a [skip] icon for some way to simply bypass the intro if you don't want to see it. Maybe you should contact them and offer up a suggestion to add the [skip] option to the intro page. Like I said it’s nice, but after you see it once it then just gets in the way!

Yeah, I hate having to listen to music on web-pages. Annoying as all hell.

The page is alright... but I do like Jedi Patel floating in the tobacco fields. "Help us Rocky, you're our only hope!"
 
I think Rocky Patel should have some try-out cigar promotion like the Montecristo deal from General or the $.795 deal for the Macanudo 68's. Say, how about a 3-pack of Decade for $4.95 ? I'll bite on it.

I agree, seeing him appear on every page is a little scary. I like the rotating menu at the top of the homepage though.

He does look a little too jedi in the middle of the tobac field.

I did not find the site laggy, but I have a 10mbps connection with a 3.8ghz c2d and 8 gigs of ram.

I would not want to try to load it with something like a 2mpbs or slower. Bleh, he needs a skip intro button at least.
