I'm going to go against the grain here.

Whatever you bring, expect to see 1/4 smoked cigars in the ashtray - it's gonna happen. It's gonna make you made wheather it is a $1.50 Padron Fumas or a $6 Choix. . . at least it does me.

Now, IMO, I think anytime you have the opportunity to share cigars and make an impact on people - why not give them the best? I've given out many a Cuban to those that don't appreciate it and don't know what the heck they are smoking. But if just one person in crowd comes over, asks about the cigar and strikes up a conversation - it is worth it to me.

Either way, you are doing a great thing and they have no room to complain even if it's a Swisher. But I personally like to try and open eyes and introduce as many people as possible to this passion of mine.

Having said that, I've had people over to my house that I gave a Cuban cigar to. They smoked 1/4 of it and put it out. The next time they came over and asked for another - I politely told them no and grabbed a 'moochers stick'. I try to put it in perspective for them, I told them it was like walking in their house, grabbing a 6-pack out of the fridge, drinking one beer and throwing the rest in the trash. Some people need it spelled out for them. . .

YEah, initially i was gonna go with Cubans but after thinking it more, it is most likely they wont be cigar smokers and the cubans might be a little too much. If you knew they DO smoke cigars then cubans would be ok, otherwise not.

Strangers and people you only half-know rarely rate Cubans. Go with the NC and they will still be happy you brought anything anyway.

Exactly. Bring some decent Fuentes and a few better sticks for anybody who smokes cigars. Me, I'd leave any and all Cubans at home.

yeah Fuentes... or Padron Delicias.
For a non-cigar-smoker, it's nice if they recognize the brand.
Good advice.
I voted for NCs. Save the Cubans for those you KNOW will appreciate them.
Whatever you decide, bring all the same smokes so that no one wll feel slighted if a few are smoking something different - NC or CC.

Also good advice, Peter.

That's why I've started keeping a box of mild smokes on hand. Buy from cbid, put back, and when wedding comes, pull out a full box. Even if they are only average smokes, cracking open a full box seems to impress the to-be smokers, especially if it is a nice looking box! Heck, you can get a box of 25 decent (for this occassion) smokes off cbid for generally $30 or less.

NC vote for me as well. Plenty of value NC's out there that are mild enough and tasty enough to satisfy the novice smoker as well as the experienced. Someone mentioned Padron Delicias and that is exactly what I took to my friend's bachelor party a few months back. Casa Torano is mild and tasty enough as well to satisfy in my opinion.
