Bad Day at Work

Went to work today and was told the main guy from Houston was going to talk to us. Well, he did around noon. Everyone was terminated and the doors were shut. It was unexpected, but what can you do?

We were given 2 months severance pay, along with insurance paid up until April 30th, with is pretty good.

I've already stated making calls and emailing resumes.

Wish me luck on getting a job soon.

Thanks,
Tony

that sucks, well only thing to do is look forward. At least you have your health..

That's a bitch... best of luck in finding a new job! Might want to post in the Business Networking forum, you never know what might turn up. :ss

That sucks royal, man. You are the third person I have heard that happen to in the past week. Sounds like an okay severance, the insurance part is really good. With your positive attitude, I'm confident that things will soon be back on track.

But I'm thinking good thoughts for you anyway :tu

Hey buddy, sorry to hear that. Really really unfortunate. Sounds like you are trying to make the best out of it. Good luck in your job hunt!

Man, I am so, so sorry to hear that.
Don't even want to imagine that feeling.
Good luck to you hunting for work.
Two months is so little to rely on.
Hopefully you hook up fast.
Keep your head up.

As it has been said that just sucks... I hope you find a new career soon and see this as an opportunity... an opportunity that sucks but an chance for a fresh start.

Sorry to here about this brother.

my roommate just had the same thing happen to him

Sorry to hear it. its a bummer! good luck!

Sorry to hear man. They left you in better shape than alot of folks I know. Keep chugging along and something will turn up.

Turn a bad thing into a positive. The 2 month severance affords some reasonable time to find another job and not feel compelled to take the first opportunity that crosses your path. Watch the budget and good luck with the hunt!

my first job after college (2006) was a 6 month stint at a heavy equipment factory. Three weeks before christmas they brought all of the new folks and temp employees into a big room and said "see ya". The writing was on the wall for about a month, parts issues had forced a big slowdown in production. They still could've handled it with a bit more tact. Things go that way sometimes.
