I start off with the band on for the first 1 inch or so and then remove the band. That way I know for sure the glue is loose enough and will not tear my smoke. But If the ring is loose I take it off right away. There is no need to advirtise what I am smoking.

What he said and.
I smoke with my dog, when its warm Ms.Floydp.So no reason to keep it on.I might leave it on to use for one of my poor reviews. For some entertainment..

I leave mine on until the halfway point. I like turning the Cigar around and looking at the Pretty Band :D If i have my glasses on that is.

Good point P, If I don't have my glasses on I'd never be able to look at the pretty band either.

Whatever will annoy the people I'm smoking with the most. Prudes and elitists get the band, Obnoxious yuppie types get no band.

Well, that's what I'd do if I smoked with those types of people anyway.

All of these questions.....

I usually leave them on. I don't really care about the band to actually take the time to remove id before I smoke.

I take it off after the heat softens the glue enough to remove the band without incident.

If it is Cuban and I am out somewhere where I think it might cause a problem I'll Remove the band before I go.

I will remove the band before light if for some reason it is very loose and slides right off. Lots of CAO's seem to be able to do this. Otherwise I light it with band on and smoke it for a few minutes. The band will open right up without taking wrapper with it.

I, usually, leave it on until it loosens and falls off or I smoke the cigar down to almost burn it. I don't like to peel it off it it's glued too tight or stuck to the wrapper. My fingers are covering the band most times... don't care what people think of the cigar I have... I smoke what I like.

I like to keep the band on. Something about having the band on makes the cigar look a bit more elegant and adds to my enjoyment of the experience.

:)

Who would have guessed so much thought went into this?
I have always left the band on until it gets in the way, then I may take it off.
Never really gave it much thought.

Ditto!

I leave mine on until the heat melts the glue enough so that my huge, apelike hands don't tear the cigar in half :c

My favorite band is Bon Jovi !!!

Oops wrong thread ???

I leave 'em on unless I need to conceal the ID.

Quick out of thread Question :D; ¿what happens if you are seen in public smoking a cuban cigar? Is it that bad that they might call the police or something like that? Im asking since i frequently go to the U.S. (My girlfriend lives there) and always bring at least 3 or 4 cigars with me, but never had thought of it. She lives in the border so usually we spend more time over here in Mexico, but when we visit her family we go more to the North (Palm Desert CA.) so that is when I think it might be more trouble. Thanks. Sorry for the distraction :D

I leave mine on.
I guess since I'm in Cayman Island I dont' have to worry about cubans being illegal here. Yes for me it is part of Cigars beauty and presentation and I normally kind of dent my cigar a bit while smoking it so the ring band is like a marker that every time I put it in my mouth it will always landed on the same spot and not ending up on turning it. It's just me enjoying my cigar...
Salud!

I leave mine on, until it's in the way, then take it off, and put it in the wallet pocket for safe keeping. This is how I've managed to save every band I've ever smoked. Sometimes, leaving it on will promote someone at the bar to ask about it.....then I can proceed to "spread the love of the leaf...." ;)
When it's off...no one ever seems to ask me what I'm smoking.....It's almost as if the band intrigues people to inquire.

I guess you could call it my own little leaf ministry.....spread the word; we're outnumbered and under attack!! :ms

I take the band off because when I first started smoking I read that it was bad form to leave the band on. However, when I go over to my local cigar shop, I notice that most of the guys leave their bands on.

I mostly stay in the habit of taking the band off still, mostly because I like to smoke the cigar down to the nub. But sometimes I will get crazy and leave the band on! :D

Usually on for the first part of the cigar, unless its just obviously loose and will slide off. I don't like to mess with taking off the band once it starts to burn close to it, so its just easier to remove it as soon as possible.
