I take the bands off for two reasons...I like to save a band from the cigars I smoke, and I like to smoke 'em to the nub...

You run the risk of tearing the wrapper if the glue they use sticks it to the cigar. Plus I don't mine letting people know what I'm smoking. I usually get asked anyway.

Grinch OUT!!!

I take it off after the stick has warmed up, as in the other posts less questions fewer answers. SENARIO: you're siting a the local pub smoking and some annoying drunk starts asking questions and spraying spit so bad he puts out your smoke. could happen? lol

I usually start to smoke before the band comes off. One time I tried to remove it first and some glue was on the cigar...

I take em off. If I'm gonna pay the money, I want em naked!

Sometimes foreplay is half the fun. :r

Depends on the cigar. If it's not getting in the way, I leave it on until the last quarter. If I'm smoking a La Aroma De Cuba Corona, Pirahna, or any other cigar who's band covers up 2/3rds of the stick, I tear it off.

It depends. If the band is loose, I take it off. If it is in the way, I take it off. However, if none of the above, I leave it on. I don't like taking them off until they are ready to come off. I have had parts of wrapper come off with some.

Now, if I'm smoking a Dutch Masters . . . . .

Just kidding.

I take it off about halfway through, to give the glue as much time as possible to loosen. I find that if I try after only a few minutes, the glue still holds.

Side question: When the glue is strong, does everyone slide the band off the end, or does anyone try to peel the end of the band up?
When I slide off, occaisonally a fold of the wrapper gets caught and sliced off. But whenever I've thought about trying to get the end up, it seems like it will do more damage as I'll have to practically pinch the side of the cigar...

I always leave them on until I smoke it for a while to heat up the glue. I ruined a few cigars pulling them off when I first started smoking.

I need a little Band "Aid" here. Was wondering who smokes their sticks with the Band on and who smokes their sticks naked. I like to remove the band right away to save it.

I love a well constructed cigar with a beautiful band. For example, the LGC Serie R #6 or the Fuente Fuente Opus X. Who wouldn't want to display cigars with a beautiful wrapper such as those? It's not an arrogance thing, but instead an aesthetics thing. Europeans generally take the bands off of their cigars because they feel it's a sign of pomposity. This doesn't ring true for me. I don't have that hang up. I think a nice band adds elegance to a cigar.
