absolutely no reason to trust you. when you grow up, you will understand trust is earned - not granted.

Now to answer your question in a serious manner in case you really do want to hear my opinion. I have smoked great cigars on both ends of the spectrum. Just because a cigar is hard does not mean it's dry. Some cigars are just packed tight and are very dense making them feel like they can be used for a weapon. Does not mean the smoke will be dry or smoke harsh. On the other end of things, just because a cigar is soft does not mean it is just right for smoking. It can be over humidified making for a horrible smoke or under filled which will more than likely give you the same crappy results. On the other hand it could be just right and smoke like a dream. You should be checking the cigar to make sure it is not too wet or too dry so saying a cigar is hard and soft is vague at best.
Instead of being a tool you should take the advice of long standing members and try to learn a thing or two and take the stick out of your @ss which will probably make it soft.:r Sorry could not resist. There is a wealth of knowledge on this board if you really did come here to learn. If not see yourself out as you can probably tell your attitude is not appreciated. If you do want to learn, than I suggest you sit back lick your wounds and quick being a tool. You'll catch more bees with honey.
As far as the turn the thread took, I think it's pretty damn funny and the OP had it coming. Just look where the whole Kumar threads went yesterday. My question is, Is Kumar and Mikey one in the same?

The less variables you have to deal with when shopping for smokes, the better.

This is some good stuff! Mike, you got the advice of several learned gorillas and you chose to impart you own "advice" to newbs? A wet cigar is practically worthless, try searching the threads on dry boxing and rh preferences. Hard or soft are terms which are vague and do not take in to account many things. If you had a "hard" cigar because it was overfilled or plugged, then I can understand your preference for something softer. But you will find just as many if not more problems with loose, underfilled, overhumidified smokes. By persisting in arguing with mods and others with more experience you only confirm our suspicions that you are either drunk or an idiot. And since you proclaim you are not drunk, that leaves one inescapable conclusion. :dr

I have never squeezed a cigar in a shop... Some cigars are harder than others due to the tobacco used....Sun Grown wrappers, Rosados, Crillios all have a harder texture...

When you buy a cigar you do not want it to be extremely hard but you don't want it to be mushy either. You want it to have just a little bit of give and after squeezing you want the wrapper to return to it's natural position. I really hope this helps.
I never squeeze test. I also rarely smoke anything I bought that day. Given, most places here cater to the drier stick crowd and keep their wares at about 65-68%...so I have to box them for a while.
The only cigar I will routinely smoke the day I get them are A. Fuente Curly Heads...and that's just because they smoke about as well dry as they do moist.

Hmmm, I tried a new B&M (for me anyway) today and bought a handful of sticks, and guess what? I didn't squeeze a single one. I inspected the wrappers on them to make sure they did not look to be over humidified or cracking from dryness but I can honestly say I did not squeeze them. Like others have mentioned, most of what I buy gets stored for a couple weeks or more before smoking them anyway which means they will eventually be to my liking if not already by the time I smoke them. So no need to go to crazy in the shop.
