How do you approach cigar buying?

I have a couple of approaches to buying cigars.
1) I read a lot of reviews/listen to cigar podcasts, select a couple of cigars that look interesting and order 1-3 of each from an online vendor with a big selection of cigars.
2) Go to my local b+m and pick up a couple of singles to sample them for my 3rd cigar buying approach.
3) relatives go to cuba and i tell them to get me something.

When i first started smoking i read lots of books and reviews, so i have an idea of what is a popular cigar! and then bought single sampler here and there, Bought boxs of the ones i really liked!(if the price was right).
Now if i want to try new cigars i buy a box with me and a friend, half each, so it wont be so bad if i dont like them and if you do enjoy them you can just get yourself a box on the next order! (again! if the price is right)

I travel for my job, so I tend to stop at the local B&M's in the area that I happen to be in and pick up cigars that look good at the time and try them. If they are good, I will try and pick some up on one of the auction sites.
:ss

I'm new enough so that I don't know what I'm doing. I'll go to the local B&M, pick up a couple & try them out. I need to write down exactly what the heck it is I'm buying though. I tend to have to run back with the label later on & see what the heck it was so I can get another if the first was good enough to want to try again.

:D

I'm heading back this evening to find some more La Aurora Cameroon like I had this afternoon. The folks that work there are always very helpful. My wife even likes going there with me.

How much are your cheaper boxes of cigars over in the US? Over hear they start at about AUS $330.00 (US $275.00) and that would get you 25 Monte Chriso #4's.

Samplers and specials. My first CAO was a Tony Soprano....I scarfed up two of the three for 25 deals a while back. Considering, the best price I saw per stick was twice of what that special was, I bit.

joecigar is my devil site.

Well you're talking about a whole different ballgame. You can get what we can't in Australia so there's no real "price" for them in the U.S., but where we do get them from, I see 25 #4s for less than half that.

Anyway, my approach to cigars is to read up on the boards. I see what seems to be popular, I go to the B&M and try one or two. But mostly I just recklessly grab whatever good offers I see in the WTS forum, which is where most of my collection has come from.

I buy samplers and see what I like and don't like. I also read reviews of those who have similar tastes to mine and then pull the trigger. :gn :gn

Having a limited budget I...

1.) Listen to recommendations from others who have a similar pallet to me (friends, magazines, fellow B&SOTL on this forum.)

2.) I buy a quantity of three. This allows for the occasional bad cigar but I'm not stuck with a lot if I don't like them.

3.) I buy another three if I realy like them.

4.) If I still think that this is a GREAT cigar I will begin buying them by the box and try to corner the market. :D

When purchasing cigars, what makes you pull the trigger? Do you sample some from the local B&M, then proceed to internet buying if you liked it? Is price your biggest concern?

Do you fall prey to the delicious, mouthwatering :dr reviews and impulse buy?

After reading quite a bit here, it seems people "frenzy buy" or turn into some sort of monster only to realize the damage done after they blacked out.

I guess what I am asking is what constitutes what goes into your humidor or cooledor.

I'm usually an impulse buyer. If I see either singles or even a box that I have been wanting, I usually don't hesitate to pull the trigger.
