How should I spend $100.00?

He said his humi is full so it seems he needs more storage. Maybe a compromise of a pound of beads that will last forever and a cheap tupperdor that he can replace with a cooler when he needs it + $60 or so for cigars to start filling it.

There are so many things that can be made safely into an overflow container it is ridiculous.

I swear the way some of you pimp coolers and beads you'd think you were getting a commission.

I can't imagine owning less than 50 sticks and considering storage yet. You haven't even had a chance to really experience the hobby yet.

take $20 and become a CS Site Supporter, and take the remaining 80 and buy what your heart desires.

Great advice right there! :tpd:

However, I would also buy $20 in Troop Raffle tickets as well.

Man it's fun spending someone else's money!

Get a couple bundles of Tampa sweethearts. Good bang for your buck. Then you will need more storage. What a situation you have here. Fun aint it.:tu

You make a good point which has me thinking of holding off (since I'm in the same boat, just about 55 sticks right now) so I can buy more cigars.

If I make a tupperdor (since I'm maxed out in storage now), what's the advantage of beads over a humidifier unit or two....is there one? Should I stick with a humidifier & solution for something small & then get beads for something larger like a Coolidor or a cabinet or a Vinotemp?

You can get a 1/2 lb of beads from heartfelt for 18 bucks and a foam humidifier is 6 bucks. However with the beads you don't have to sweat getting a seperate hygrometer so the beads (which advertise to last forever) would be the best bet IMO. You don't need 1/2 lb but it is not like they go bad and you may have more than one overflow container. If you already own enough foam humidifiers use them for now. Once a week or so move your existing hygrometer to the overflow container and leave overnight.

Thanks! Why don't you need a hygrometer if you've got beads? Separately, do the beads have liquid in them that needs to be replenished like the humidifier? Or they just hold at 65% always...

The beads use distilled water. They are more consistent and it is easier to make note if more water is needed where a standard foam humidifier you don't know until the humidity starts to drop. Ideally you would get a seperate hygrometer eventually but I wouldn't worry with it until you are looking at permanent storage space. Just be careful not to overfill the beads because when the humidity is high outside you need them to still have the capacity to absorb moisture.

Thanks for all the suggestions!

I'm leaning toward a tupperdor (as large as I can find) and beads for now, with the balance on some sticks I've been wanting to try as well as a few of my favs.
