How was your Independence Day cigar?

Young Ape
I was in the woods camping this 4th, with some long time friends. We're all college buddies and to be honest, when together, quite a reckless group of drinker/partiers. Needless to say, our group was not "mellow" that night, for lack of a better term. As the night continued, and the menacing stares at us from neighbors walking to and from the restroom facilities increased, we began to kick it into second gear by introducing a half gallon of cheap whiskey. As loud slurring and offensive language increased, a moment of clarity swept through my mind- the cigars that I had packed were in desperate need of company. So, I cut and handed these beautiful Matasa 30th Anniversaries out, then instructed the lot of stumbling, cross-eyed newbies how to light them. To the neighbors delight, we quietly sat down around the fire, and began talking about current and future plans for our lives. I learned more about these hooligans in those 45 minutes then I ever had during my college years. What an amazing experience I had, and all due to the power of the wonderful tobacco leaf. Even better, we had a great laugh the next day at the expense of one friend. He had never smoked a cigar before and received such a bad case of the spins at the end of the herf session, that he ran into the woods vomiting, only to later return without any shoes or a shirt on. The next day, we found them resting by one very pissed off neighbors tent, covered in vomit, with the neighbor saying he and his wife were awakened in the night to the ever pleasant sound of our friend heaving his guts out for 20 minutes. I looked at the guy, apologized, said Happy 4th of July, and all of us went back and got the "hell outta Dodge" before the real chaos started.

What was your cigar experience on the 4th?

LOL... great story.

I came home and grabbed out my birthday cigar, a 1983 ERDM. I was walking out to the living room when I saw my dad eyeballing it, so i asked him if he wanted a cigar. He of course wanted one, so I grabbed him one, and also one for my friend.

I sat around a backyard campfire with my good friend, my dad, and my fiance, and smoked this wonderful cigar that was gifted to me.

Was a pleasant and relaxing evening.

Friday night I smoked a Bolivar Belicoso.. it was great, had the American Flag flying high on the shack, which in Germany is a site to see..

Well for my 4th me and the rest of my platoon got together and had a small bbq with some food from the chow hall. Then after the meal we sat on our deck behind our office and smoked a few gurkha black dragons. Its not home but my friends and troops made it feel alot better lol. :tu

I enjoyed my weekend just as I do most. Sitting around in the garage with my husband and family closeby smoking cigars and chatting about different old stories. My husband also had an old buddy of his come down and spend the 4th with us really fun times playing catchup and sneaking a bomb in on my husbands friend.

It was a fairly quiet 4th for me this year. The wife and I celebrated our third wedding anniversary the day prior and it kind of spilled over into the 4th. Started the day out with a mountain bike ride followed by a great lunch. After lunch we went to the pool and after showering we went for an hour couples massage. We than went out to a great Italian dinner and than came home and hung out in the backyard. We were just hanging out under the gazebo. She had a glass of wine and I had a Capt Morgan and Dr. Pepper paired with a Pepin Black Figurado. What was really awesome was the fireworks show the city puts on every year was in plain sight from our backyard. So we just sat and enjoyed the show while relaxing. All in all it was a great day.

Not as intersting as yours carterwsu!!

Lit offf a few bottle rockets had a few sticks with family.

Smoked a 5 Vegas A Series and loved it, other than that a lot of running around to different picinics.

Well, I got boxes of RP's, Illusione ECCJ's and my wife picked me up some Padilla's and a couple La Aurora Cien Anos.
AND...
I got a cold for the 4th. Headache and sore throat. Still trying to get rid of it. Haven't smoked a cigar since the 2nd. At least I didn't mind that my DPG firecrackers didn't show up until today.

I want all of you to take a deep breath and swallow. Feels good doesn't it. Enjoy not being sick!

OK now smoke a few sticks for me.

No sticks for me on the 4th. Today is my first cigar in celebration of independence day, and its a Signature Collection by Perdomo... Review to follow on cigar command.

Glad you guys got to enjoy the 4th. I'm sure I can speak for not only myself, but a lot of others on this forum, that we are tremendously grateful for all that you soldiers/sailors/flyers/grunts do for this country. God Bless, and Happy (late) 4th of July.

I ran into one of my buddies down at Gulf Shores, his Woman-friends parents are, in the words of ron white, Lo-oo-oo-ded, and they were staying at the Grand Hotel in point clear(thats where the rich folks go) and we went and ate dinner with them, on them... they had a cigar bar... and my favorite the Rocky Patel vintage 90 was there. her dad and my buddy and I sat at the bar and drank scotch and smoked cigars... and it was purrfect.

I ended up smoking a couple Oliva V torps throughout the night. Tasted great with keg beer and hamburgers!:D

I know I am late on this, but I have to share this story.
My wife and I had planned on spending the 4th with one other couple that we hang out with.
They received an invite to a party one of their friends was throwing, BBQ, fireworks, bonfire, etc. at their place in the country.
They asked and received permission to bring us along.
The husband of said couple also smokes cigars, so I packed one for me, one for him, and two more to give away. All of them were Taboo Twist Churchills.
After dinner, we were all sitting outside (a beautiful evening, cool and comfortable), and some other folks there fired up their cigarettes.
I found the male host, and said I have two questions: "Is it OK if I smoke a cigar, and would you like one for yourself?" I figured it was the polite thing to do.
He kind of hemmed for a moment, and I said they are very mild, slightly spicy, and very good smokes, please take one.
He said OK, so I cut and toasted one, gave it to him and lit it for him.
His eyes lit up like a kid at Christmas.
He strutted around with this thing like he had just been initiated into some really cool secret society (maybe he was . . .).
I overheard someone talking on their cell phone a bit later, saying "You should see Dave, he's walking around smoking a stogie. Yes he's smoking a stogie."
He kept it going for a good hour and an half, grinning the entire time, and brandishing the thing like he knew what he was doing.
At the end of the evening, I walked up to him and thanked him for inviting us out to his place. He thanked me for the cigar and said we should get together again soon.
I don't know if I made a new friend that night, only time will tell.
But it was you guys that taught me about the generosity that can be applied to cigars, and I know I made Dave's evening one he will remember.

Pay It Forward.

Chris
