Humidification Beads: FAQs

This is good stuff Viper - Gracias.

I recently ordered a 4oz tube of 65% beads - Is it me or is it hard to tell when they need recharging?

Any tips/tricks you can share would be appreciated.

Peace

technically, you shouldn't use a spray bottle because the direct contact with the water will crack the beads. most of us still use the spray bottle or something of the sort. but the safest way? put a dish of distilled in the humi and let the beads take the evaporated water. :tu

I understand what he means here. Those of you who don't use the perforated tubes might not understand the issue. I also have a hard time seeing through the white plastic that makes up the tubes to tell how many of the beads are white and how many are clear. It's very easy to tell the difference when they're out in the open, but when they are confined in the tube, it's darn near impossible for me to tell the difference.

BINGO - Thanks for clarifying Tenor! It definately has to do the the container (tube) they come in.
Don't get me wrong, the beads have been working great, I just was wondering if there is a tip/trick to monitoring them in the tube.

I recieved my beads from Heartfelt yesterday (fastest shipping I have ever seen) My questions now is do I leave the humi in or should I just use the beads?

Thank you,

Thank you,

You shouldn't need any other type of humidification besides the beads. All other humidifiers can come out :2

Thank you,

Only use the beads. The beads do all of the work so no other humi source is needed.

Will it do any damage if the tube is touching a cigar with out cello ?

I try to keep my out of cellos from touching the tube, just shuffle things around a bit and you should be ok. This is just in case there is moisture on the plastic. :2

A cigar out of the cello can touch the tube without a problem. Just make sure that you have dried the plastic tube off thoroughly when you have re-hydrated the beads.

The beads work! Heartfelt customer service is great. Just ordered another pound of beads and they were here in a couple of days.:ss

A couple of quick questions:

I only have a 20ct humidor but I was thinking of buying the Large Round Cigar Humidifier so that when I update to a larger box I can still use the same beads, any problem with going with the bigger size from the start?

And do you still recommend a hygrometer with the beads? I've seen a couple of comments on the boards saying the beads work so well that there really is no need for a hygrometer. Thoughts?

Thanks!

Having more beads than you need is not a problem, they regulate humidity both ways, they will release it when dry and absorb it when it is too wet. :tu

I still like to have a hygrometer if for no other reason than peace of mind. You invest all this money in the hobby, why not $10-15 more in a digital hygrometer. :2
