Glad you're feeling better! Can I ask something though... why do people get sick from cigars? Not asking to be bold or arrogant in any way. It's just that I sometimes smoke like 3 or so full bodied cigars in one sitting. Today my wife chewed me out for having three cigars in a row (all full-bodied). On top of that I drink strong beer and still feel fine. Are some of you guys inhaling? I don't inhale any cigar smoke at all. I guess if I did it would hit me reeeeally hard, but I don't. So what's the scenario? Am I somehow more tolerant to cigar smoking or am I smoking differently than some of you?

Again, I'm not trying to come off arrogant in any way! I'm honestly curious as to why smoking several strong smokes in a row doesn't affect me. And - I'm still pretty much a noob to cigars - less than a full year of smoking ;)

Do you smoke cigarettes or chew tobacco? I smoke marlboro reds so it is tough to get a nic buzz for me .A friend of mine was over today and he doesn't smoke anything. He tried a Rp connecticut and after 2 inches on the 'gar, he was roped, he sat in the recliner and relaxed. Never saw that before but maybe you are used to nicotine as am I. Wish I wasn't, but I am. I am trying to kick the cigs so I have more money to spend on cigars.

Next time keep a peice of hard candy around, the slow release of sugar eases you back down. :tu... or you could try a nice greasy pork sandwich served in a dirty ashtray.

I saw this discussion not long ago in another thread, and there, too, the consistent recommendations were various sugar sources. Which made me think... Hmmm.... Sounds like a perfect excuse to have a MOJITO!! Cane syrup is one of the ingredients. It sounds so good, I can't believe I've never had one. I've had everything that's in one, just never had them all at the same time. Besides, I think they were invented in Cuba, right? Cuban Coffee is also heavily sweetened, as well. Coincidence? Maybe they were onto something, and if it ain't broke...

Man, hopped up on nic, buzzed on caffeine, and just slightly drunk. Beats a stick in the eye.

Yes, I have many hobbies, unfounded speculation being just one of them.

I'm extremely juvenile, so that is from one of my all-time favorite movies. Did it ever make the "Stogies on film" list? No matter what else he does for the rest of his career, he'll always be Chet, to me.

Do you realize it's snowing in my room, GODDAMMIT???!?!?!?!

Hahahah, you ARE talking about Bill Paxton in Wierd Science yes? :r He's awesome!

@Scottw - nope, I don't smoke cigarettes or chew tobacco or anything. I have however smoked cigarettes for 3 & 1/2 years but I quit that over 10 years ago. Since then I never smoked anything until I got turned onto cigars within the past year - and I love them and am happy to have been introduced to it! Being you don't inhale them I find it's a world of difference than smoking cigarettes. I don't feel the "absolute need" to smoke like cigarettes made me feel.

Whenever this happens to me I just either throw up if its really that bad, and/or lye down for 30 minutes and tell everyone not to bother me.....I will try the sugar trick next time though.

With me in both cases it was due to having to puff too hard on a cigar and being too stubborn to just trash them both. I too have smoked full bodied Cubans back to back with no ill effects which makes the few times you feel wonky stand out.

It happens to everybody from time to time. I always keep some ice cream on hand for such and ocasion. It has only happens to me once, but I am sure it will happen again. It is all part of the fun of smoking cigars.

I had a Don Pepin Blue Generosos tonight. I've smoked these before with no problem, but tonight for some reason it kicked my ass. I guess the Crown & Coke I was drinking finally kicked in because I felt better in about 45 minutes, but I was pretty queasy and shaky for a while.

Sometimes it just hits that way outta the blue.

I agree 100% with you on the cigar /nicotine thing. It's not the nicotine that makes me want the cigar, it the taste, smell, feel, and the ability to share my experience with you guys. Cigarettes smell like ch*t ans don't taste too much better but I am a cig smoker and trying to quit.

Been smoking menthol cigarettes for over 20 years, and I still smoke about a pack a day, or just a little less, but I've noticed in just the last week or so that they cigs are becoming less and less satisfying, and I have always rather enjoyed them, to be honest. Lately, they seem more like "those things that get me from one cigar to the next", if that makes any sense.

I don't know yet what the result of this is going to be. I can't smoke cigars at work, there's just not enough time. Crank up the cigarette power? Just not even bother with them anymore? Cigarillos? It's just too early to tell. I'm an I.T. tech support weasel, so part of the pleasure of my smoke breaks is just getting away from the phone for ten minutes. I will still need that, even if I give up the cigarettes. Hell, when I started this job, I had an ashtray on my desk. Now I can't even smoke in the building. They would just as soon I not smoke at all, and don't even hide their loathing. Most have already caved. The few of us that are left are banished to the loading dock, between the Dumpster and the alley. Minus 20? Tough $#!+, you should quit smoking, filthy Neanderthal. A gorilla can't get no love.
