It has begun!

Newbie in the jungle
My vinotemp is all set up and has been holding at 65/65 for a little while now, so I figured it was time to start filling it!

Just got home recently from the local B&M where we were watching bits of NCAA football games inbetween games of Wii Bowling and Golf! When leaving I stepped back into the humidor and the owners son (who also helps run the shop) had set up some sampler packs so I picked up a couple, so without further ado, here are the first colonists of my vinotemp:

(Apologies for the iPhone picture, I couldn't get it in any position that the labels wouldnt reflect, and having the plastic wrappers on made it even worse. Also, I'm naming them to the best of my ability honestly (re: sorta going only by what's listed on the label, so if you are able to identify and correct me then by all means, I take no offense

)

Set 1:
Onyx(?)
Juan Lopez(?)
Canon Cubano
Perdomo Lot 23
A. Fuente Gran Reserva

Set 2:
Cao Italia
A Fuente Gran Reserva
Punch Gran Puro
Padron 1926 Serie
Romeo y Julieta Maduro Reserve

So overall it was a good day. I am too concerned about losing out on 'worth' for these sampler packs if there was any, I was just looking for a variety of types that I can try for the next while to figure out what I like and what I do not :) Although, the owner commented that the Padron 1926 Serie was quite special, so couldn't help but smile about that!

very nice set of sticks, I think that you will be quite happy

I just converted my vinos over to cold weather operations. That is, I have the drain hole plugged and the unit turned off. With 2lbs of beads in each (1lb low and 1 high), I think I'm well set.

I'm hoping to only run the cooling unit 3 or so months a year, but I'm in Oregon on the wet side, so that's pretty reasonable.

Let the 1926 sit for a good long while. I have a box of 1926s that I plan to let sit for another year or so before smoking. Mind you, I have about 45 boxes of smokes (some are cabs), so I can do that.

enjoy!

I got one of those Punch Gran Puros from Longknocker. He advised me to let the rest a bit altough I wanted to get into it today. If you smoke it within the next week, please post a review. Other than that, enjoy, and thanks for the pics

Yeah so far it's only been set up for a few weeks, and I haven't plugged the drain on mine per say, except that I put a 1lb bag of beads over the hole in the back, and have another pound of beads ready to put in to do some more control (prolly in the middle/top). I had a couple of 1/2 lb bags that came with the package from heartfelt where I got everything, but in the bonehead move of the month, I think the 1/2lb bags were still in the parcel package when I threw it away :c

which shop did you go to? was it ashburns on indian school and dysart?

that was the only place that I went that father and son ran.

Perdomo is good. The Onyx is better with age but still good right from the start. Not sure about the others. Enjoy the sticks and the vino :ss

That's the place, yup! I went a long time without knowing it was there until I took a day and just drove around a bit.

Great samplers!! I found the Juan Lopezs to be great smokes and something most people overlook.

Enjoy :) :tu :ss
