Large Ring Guage

Just wondering who here likes that large RG cigars. By large, I'm talking 56 RG in size and up. I usually like the 50-54 RG myself. I've smoked smaller ones but usually don't care for anything less than a 46 RG. I have quite a few larger cigars in my collection but have not tried them yet. Such as a Nat Sherman Banker at 5 x 66. Also have a couple La Gloria Cubana Serie R No. 7 cigars, coming in at 7.00 x 58. Just wondering who likes the big smokes here. I've read that people should smoke what fit's their "look". I'm a big guy myself but don't really know that big guys should smoke big cigars. I just don't really like those little pencil sized cigars and like the "classic" fat cigar I guess.

Not a fan of large cigars, a 50 rg robusto is about the top for me. The "classic" size cigar is a corona (42 rg x 5.5 inches) which is just about perfect for me.

I don't necessarily like 56 and up but I like larger RGs. I personally don't buy and keep many under 50 - not that I don't like a corona or lancero once in a while.

I just go for what is the most cost effective, which is usually a smaller ring gauge. I do not have a particular size preference, I will smoke what ever is in my hand.

When I first started smoking cigars I liked the bigger RG but now that I've relaxed into a routine I am starting to apprecitate the smaller RG such as corona or lancero!

I like the bigger ring gauges. I just like the heavy in the hand feel that this gives me, and I have found that the bigger ring gauges feel like that. The La Gloria Series R Maduro #7 is one of my favorite all time cigars!
I am a big guy, but I still don't think you need to smoke a big cigar because of that. I like the Oliva Series R Lancero very much!

Have you ever thought about trying an "Inmenso" by Perdomo.:ss

There is a pretty good review here :http://www.stogiereview.com/2007/10/31/perdomo-inmenso/

I tend to lean towards the larger rings myself... 50+. I will buy cigars in the high 40's but generally stay away from the smaller smokes. Just a matter of preference.

I like the larger ringe guages but don't smoke them exclusively.

Two of my favorite large ring guage cigars are the RP Vintage & Sungrown 6x60. I also saw that Pepin has a black label out now in a 6x60 that I'm looking forward to trying.

My two favorite cigars at the moment are the Pepin Black in the robusto size (loaded up with 40 during the past 2 Joecigar deals) and the Tatuaje Angeles.

Usually the determining factor when I pick one out is the time I will have to smoke it. During the summer I didn't smoke anything larger than a robusto because I didn't want to be outside that long. Now that it's cooling off, the larger cigars are coming back out.

Love the large ring gauges. Myself if a cigar gets under 48 I will usually shy away.
I went througt a phase of wanting 60 gauge almost always but I like robustos a lot.

Depends on what I want if I have time I'll take a big guy and just enjoy it. They are typically a little smoother than the little guys. So if I'm the mood for some power. Robustos. The perdomo Habano robusto has a 54 RG and are really nice.

I am still waiting for someone to explain how a smaller rg could have more flavor since most of the flavor comes from the wrapper and with a smaller rg you have less wrapper to suck on.

That just doesn't make any sense.

I will settle for a 46-48 if I must but 50 and up are my favorites.

I think that the wrapper flavor is more pronounced on the smaller RG becuse you have less filler. I get what you are saying about it taking a larger wrapper for a larger RG cigar but I still think with the larger RG you taste more filler than you do wrapper. Of course that is only my opinion.

I like lanceros, petit coronas, coronas and the occasional robustos. However that does not mean I will not smoke the larger cigars.

More flavor because you get more of the wrappers flavor and the blend is more concentrated with less "filler". The ratio of wrapper to filler is less with smaller rg cigars so you taste more wrapper. I am not a fan of jawbreakers. :D

But if it is a longer cigar doesn't the overall amount of filler work out to be the same? And if it does, doesn't that mean you are spending as much time with less wrapper since the same section will be in your mouth the whole time?
