man o' war dud

I got a single toro off cbid last month and decided to fire this guy up tonight. It's been a long day and I was hoping for a nice smoke. This gar smelled and looked nice, but just didn't want to burn. The draw was fine, but I could hardly pull any smoke out, and it kept wanting to go out on me. I thought three weeks in a 65% rh humi would be enough to settle the sucker down, but perhaps I tried this cigar too soon? I've smoked other cigars from the same shipment and all have been fine. I'm having a hard time finding reviews on this cigar, so I can't tell whether this one's my fault or just a crappy cigar. Heck with it, I'm going to go grab that AF Hemmingway instead. Any thoughts on the man o' war?

IMHO, some of these are great, while others are marginal.. I've smoked a few.. The first few robustos I smoked were off the charts good, but recently, the few I have had have been OK at best.

yes, it's actually been raining all day here in St. Louis, though that usually doesn't cause me too many problems. One of my favorite things to do in a rainstorm is go out to the garage for a smoke. Though that certainly could be why.

I have one of those in the humi resting. Gifted to me by DrHalle. I'll have to smoke it and post how it is.:tu

MAN O WAR!!!

...sorry i just had too:r

i actually want to try some of these, they look pretty good. but your experience sounds kinda bad. maybe i'll invest in a five pack and try them.

I'm having the same problem with all the Man O Wars i smoke. They have been in 65 RH for a month now.

They don't want to burn right, smoke doesn't come out easily.

I think some sticks are more prone to have problems when smoked in high humidity. This summer out of all the ones I have smoked I had 3 that gave me problems and they were all on rainy days but all of the others in similiar conditions were just fine. Unfortunately cigar smoking is not an exact science and there will be casualities along the way. I wouldn't give up on a brand though because it went out on a rainy day. That is not really a fair evaluation.

I received my shipment yesterday. At lunch, I fired up the torp. I had a better chance of sucking a golf ball through a garden hose. I tossed it after several cuts and putting a hanger through the length of the cigar.

Later that evening, I fired up the smallest size. Great draw and great flavor.

The other 18 are in my cabinet. I'm going to let them rest for a while and re-visit them down the road.

Here is a review I did on them. http://www.clubstogie.com/vb/showthread.php?t=171783

They are an amazing cigar, I smoked one right when they were delivered and it smoked wonderful.
thanks for the link to the review. Very nice review as well. I had high hopes for this cigar, and what little smoke I could pull out of it seemed very promising. Maybe I'll jump on that 5 pack of torpedos for $25 at CI while that 5 pack madness sale is still going on. With a handmade product, I'm not necessarily looking to judge an entire line on one experience. Thanks for the replies!
