My experience with lighters while on vacation.

I find I have to adjust the flame height a good bit on my Xikar. They need to make a bigger fuel reserve. Supposedly they have fixed this with their new models coming out soon. We shall see. Matches haven't failed me yet.:2
 
I have had this Xikar for about 6 months and it has worked great.

if you can't find ronsons at wal-mart, CVS normally has them. definitely the best lighter for that kind of money
 
Whenever I have looked for them at my Walmart, there is a place for them, but they are always out of stock.

I use a Prometheus lighter, which was recommended by my B&M. Sometimes it won't light on the first try (rare), but always lights on the second try. I have been pretty happy with it. It is a Promethues Tycoon.
 
Can anyone provide a photo of the Ronson lighter,
just curious what the worlds best $3 lighter looks like?

At one time, I had my grandfather's old cigar lighter....the thing was a ronson so old that the chrome plating was worn off of it. It still worked flawlessly.

I lost it some years later, but whoever found it was probably in for a treat...that thing was a real trooper.
 
Just ordered a few Windlites from Ronson online store, appears they marked down to $3.95, figure with $7.50 shipping is cheaper than the cost of gas for an 80 mi. roundtrip ticket to the closest Wally World, if more than $50 shipping is free. The cost for the Jetlites were $5.50. :ss

i was looking alll over walmart last night for the jetlights. i couldnt find any. just the coleman $10.50 butane lighters. :mad: and at $5.50 + ship , i think im going to try my luck on one of those WallLenk lighters we have at work (sears). worst case , i have 90 days to beat on it and see what its about.

I'll take a Ronson over all other lighters. i went out and bought them for all my fellow smokers. In the northeast you can find them in Rite-aid. I had one drop out of my pocket on to the ground. It stayed there through the winter and into the spring. I noticed it one day and picked it up and tried it and it lit on the first try. They don't last forever and some are better than others but you still can't beat them for the price and reliability.
 
Experienced another Senior moment by ordering a few Ronson 'windlites', before reading the item description. Now know the difference between the 'windlite' and 'jetlite', it's a fuel vs butane thing. O'well, hopefully will learn from the experience, heck they come with 1 yr. warranty. Looks like I will be giving few token lighters away. Wonder if the troops could use them, include them with some stogies, it's been 40 plus yrs. since I been on a miliary base not sure lighter fluid is still available. Have to check it out.
 
Sometimes lighter fluid goes by the name of Naptha if that's worth anything.

I just remember that from reading the bottle of fluid I used to use with my Zippos back in the day.
