Palio, XiKAR, Zino cutter comparison (PICS)

Ya, know... I am just a simple gypsy lad... I do not obsess over different cutters. I just want a good clean cut. I own a Palio (recent purchase) several Havana Cutters that I got from a local B&M which I have stashed all over the place and was my every day cutter until I got the Palio. I do have a real nice Zino cutter. I keep it in my laptop case for emergencies (in case I lose or forget one of the others). Until I got the Palio I loved my Havana cutter, I still do and always will, however the Palio just gives a better cut. Now, I haven't mentioned the Xikar, I do not own one so I cannot comment.

What a knucklehead!

Awsome post, I just ordered a Palio, but it claimed that it could cut up to 60 ring gauge cigars on Heartfelt industries. Is this a newer release? Or an exageration?

Nice review - Never tried a Xikar - have a Palio and love it. Been thinking of upgrading to one of the new wood models.

SirGreenface, it can cut a larger cigar, you just can't fit the entire cigar in it. You can get enough of the cap in to get a good cut, though. I've cut 52 RG cigars with a Havana Cutter.

Very good Thread!!! It has given me some direction in the purchase of my first cutter.:dr

You can cut up to 60RG if you "finesse" it, 58 RG is more accurate IMHO.

Hope this helps

I love those Xikar cutters. Their my favorite. I just wish I could pronounce the name.

:tpd: i've got both the xikar and the palio...for whatever reason, i always use my xikar and have only used the palio twice. it's as if the palio is too sacred to use...that and i get a kick out of the little clicky release deal the xikar has.

endless hours of mindless fun. i used to take it with me to dinner...open, close, open, close, open....open, close.

Isn't that called OCD? :D

Yeah buddy. :ss I agree with your assesments. The Xikar is by far the best cutter I have. I have 3 of them in my possession, you never know when the occassion arrives for one of them, I also have close to a dozen of the cheap-o's in my rucksack for patrols out in the jungle or dessert (whichever). :u :u :u So thanks anyway.

I have two Xikar cutters the Xi(?) and the Mean Sardine, I love both of them, but I get the little nub in the middle when I use the Xi also.
Been thinking bout the Palio lately though, anybody know where to get one of those for under 40 bucks?
I have found that graphite powder works well for lubrication on the Xi.
Thanks for doing this.

Cigarmony is selling them for $35.95 + $7.00 SH. www.cigarmony.com

Entertaining thread!!!

I use both the Xikar and the Palio. I like that cool "click" on the Xikar, and use it often. But when the cap is short and precision is required, I use the Palio.

Toys, Toys, Toys!!!!!
