prayers and thoughts please...

A little update for my brothers and sisters of the leaf...

An update for my fellow brothers.. and sisters of the leaf... The prayers have helped. As of today, grandpa is off the ventilator, and breathing on his own, and seems to be back to his ornery self. They still don't know how much longer he has to live, but its looking more and more optimistic. Grandma, however, is not doing so well. She seems to have done everything but give up at this point. All she does is lay in bed and sleep... Maybe hoping it will all just go away. Thank you all for the prayers, and I will keep you all updated as I know more!

More prayers coming for them both Scott, and glad to hear your grandpa is doing better.

My thoughts are with you. My family went through a similar situation a few months back, so I have an Idea of what you and your wife are going through. At that age it´s pretty complicated, so let´s just hope they have the will to live. All I can say is: Keep your chin up, you and your wife. No matter what happens, God is always by your side and he will guide them as well as you through this tough time. Keep Positive. It will all work out, no matter what the result.

My heart goes out to you all.

Peter.

More background for those that want to know...
I don't know all the details, but here is what I know so far. Grandma, in the past, has had a couple of nervous and mental break downs, and I think those have come back full force. She's bedridden living on oxygen.

Grandpa has been confined to a wheel chair for about 7 years now, due to malpractice of a doctor in Italy a while back, and the he is in the critical care unit, sedated. He is on a breathing machine, and they are going to attempt to take it off on Monday to see if he will breathe on his own. If not, they are not going to attempt to recessitate him. He is in a lot of pain, and his kidneys are failing at this point. His lungs are in bad shape, and the doctors are saying that when he went down, he lost alot of oxygen going to his brain, so if he does somehow pull out of this, the doctors are saying he will have some brain damage Grandma and grandpa have ALWAYS done everything together, and we are all fearful that if grandpa goes, grandma won't be far behind him. We can't see one surviving without the other Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers.

Prayers sent. We can only hope to form a strong bond with our spouses as these two have.

Well, Looks like we counted our chickens before they hatched :( Got a call from my wife just now. Looks like grandpa went back downhill, and the doctors are saying there's no recovering at this point. His kidneys have failed and one of his lungs has failed, with the other one not far behind. They have decided to disconnect everything from him and take him back to his home at the villa (hospice care), to be with his wife.. At this point we don't know how much longer he has, but they want him to be back at home with his wife till he passes on :(

Another update for my brothers and sisters... Got the call at about 10pm last night. Grandpa passed away, luckily in his sleep. Its been a tough night. Not much sleep was gotten around here, and my wife is completely torn up. I'm upset as well, but not as much as her at this point. She was very close to her grandpa. Please continue to pray for Grandma, as she is still alive, but we don't know how much longer she might make it. :( Thanks for all your prayers!

Scott we will continue our prayers for you and your family during this time. Sorry to hear about your grandfather passing away.
