Ronson JetLight

My local Wal-mart supercenter in Central Illinois has them for $2.96 a piece. They had about 6 or so on the shelf. They are in the checkout aisle next to where you purchase the tobacco. Just an update

I found them last week for $2.50 at the local wally world.

I bought six. I figure I should be covered for life.

EDIT: These are amazing. Better, stronger flame than the Colibri i paid $25 for. Haven't had a misfire yet.

Re: OK to take torch lighter in checked luggage!

UNFILLED torch lighters are now allowed as checked and declared baggage in an approved container.

This is a recent update, I believe sometime in May or June that was relaxed some.

Edit to add: TSA does NOT "certify" any brand carry case, however the DOT does. If you carry in a DOT approved container, then TSA will generally accept it.

Just wanted to correct this! I did some additional searches and it seems contradictory. Several places I read that the Transpack would allow you to take fueled torch lighters on board, but the TSA says only soft flame lighters, (not torches). So I would like to correct my previous post to say according to TSA torches are not allowed, even in the Transpack. If I were going to test this theory I certainly wouldn't do it with a good torch.

Just got mine today....here's my comparison with it vs the Colibri Firebird (CI branded version).

aesthetics: Colibri wins with it's decorative chrome plate and leather trim. The Ronson is no slouch though with it's brushed hard chrome plating (which is probably more durable in the long haul).

Size: The Colibri is thinner. They are the same width, but the rounded shape of the Colibri makes it look wider.

Lighting it: The ronson had a flip-top that makes it safer for pocket carry, and also has a harder button press (I need to get used to this). The colibri has a softer button press, which is actually more confortable. The Colibri requires a slower press though to assure it lights every time...fast presses lead to misfires.

Flame: about the same.

Reliability: Well, the Colibri dumped it's gas the first time I filled it....this one hasn't....nuff said.

End of story: The Ronson is my new carry lighter, but the Colibri will be my "at home" lighter since I like it's softer button more...even though it like dumping fuel at times. If I was buying my first jet lighter all over agian, I'd go with the Ronson as it's a far better value overall, at less than half the price of the Colibri, and is far less tempermental.

Rite-Aid in my area has the Ronson JetLite, just bought 6.......:tu

and i guarantee the first one you open will simply NOT fail, probably ever. I am going on the same one for 2 years now, and using every type of fuel, to include the sh*tty Ronson butane.

I know, I lost my last one that I have carried for several years. When I found these at Rite-Aid, I bought several..... :ss

I went to my local Wally World and bought the last five they had on the shelf for $2.94 a piece. Now I can afford to lose one now and then.

I was getting worried that maybe they stopped carrying them. Glad to here thats not the case!
