Short cigar questions...

I'm in a small rg pass right now..when it's complete I'll see if I can get you a compiled list of what we have..My favs though are stuff like Tat havana angels, hemngway short story and recently dpg petite and tat petite.

As far as tin cigars go, I've found the cohiba red dot tins to be quite nice for a 15-20 minute smoke. I also have a few tins of 5 Vegas Shortys around from when they were first released. I'd be happy to send you a tin if you would like to try them. I think they are closer to a 30 minute smoke.

I respectfully disagree with the suggestions for the Illusione 68 and the Hemingway Short Story. I find both of these to be a solid 50-60 minute smoke. Even though they're small, they burn slow, and they're too good of quality to rush through.

I'd toss Punch London Clubs into the mix. If I recall they're 5" x 38, and cost $26 per box of 25 at JR's.

Thanks.

I'd like to see the list when it's done.

I think I'll order a box of the Rocky Patel's today after I checkout a few sites and see if anyone is running a special.

I find smoking any cigar or pipe to be more relaxing than puffing on a nasty white cigarette (which I only smoke like 1 or 2 a year when I'm drunk).

I don't really have time at work to smoke a giant cigar. So I'd like to pickup a few small.. "1/2 lenght"?? shorter cigars to try and maybe pickup a box of something decent.

I stopped by a place near my office whilest looking for an ATM machine and picked up a NUB(thats what it says on the wrapper) Cameroon, Olivia Series G, NUB Connecticut to smoke along with a case to haul stogies around in.

Expensive break you could say... haha

Anyway..

Any suggestions on some good light shorties? (term?) and the best place to pickup a box of them for a fair price?

Thanks
Jake

Nubs arent really "short smokes" because they take as long to smoke as a full size cigar...that is the point of them.

For a real short smoke about 30 minutes I agree with the Oliva serie G special G great stick at about $3.00

Also, I love Montecristo Petit Corona or No. 4 (pretty much the same stick) and can be found for around $50 for a box of 20

The H Upmann Vintage Cameroon No. 444 is also a great shortsmoke (same size as the Monte No 4) also around $50 for a box of 20.

Cut em in half!:chk
I'm sure theirs threads regarding smoking half cigars etc? Might be worth doing a search? Just my :2 bro.:tu

Not sure if its common, but I cut a Cuesta-Rey churchill in half when i first started smoking. the "foot half" started unravelling on me about 1/2 an inch in and ruined the smoke.

the cap end was fine though

If you want to go with a good cigar that won't break the bank I would go for the Rocky Patel Juniors. It's a small version of the Vintage line at 4x38.

They come 40 to a box with a everyday price tag of $49.99. I think I picked mine up from one of their weekly specials for $39.99.

Pretty good smoke for the price. It won't break your heart to toss it before it's done either.

Seconded. I would say it's at least a 30 min. smoke although it usually takes me about 45.

Speeking of cutting them in half I do that wits the Flor d oliva gigantic 8 x 52 in the winter and get 2 nice rothchilds for less then $2. I uce a cigar holder for the unraveling end.
Back to a good 1/2 hour smoke I pick a Padron Corticos Maduro (4.5" x 35) @ $2

another fan of the Short Story (It is the cigar that started me down this Slope) Rocky Patel has the Connecticut out in something exactly like the Short Story Shape and size.

If you are looking for a small cigar/cigarillo that tastes like its big brothers let us know when you find it...

Yeah, there's nothing short about the smoke-time of a NUB. They're stout, but they smoke just as long, if not longer than any 5x50 robusto I've ever had, and those usually last me 1-1 1/2 hours.

I found a pack of 5 Rocky Patel Juniors (aged 12yrs) and another NUB Conneticut and a Rocky Patel Vintage 1990 (didn't realize it was the same as the Juniors I picked up).

I think from now on I'll order them online. I've discovered as with all my hobbies, it's cheaper.

This is going to be an expensive addition to my hobbies that already break the bank.

Little Tin of La Gloria's is what I keep in the truck for trips and short smokes. Powerful little Girls!

:tpd::tpd: Don't rush either the 68 or the Short Story!

Would like to add the HdM Sabrosos Maduro to the mix, as well as the Leoninos Corojitos & Fire PC.

I've recently purchased those Shrapnel mini-cigars you see in the CI catalog, and I've gotta say, they are pretty decent. Made from the same filler as the Victor Sinclair Bohemian blend (I like those cigars), these are about a 5-10 smoke. You can get them with or without sweetened tips. I bought mine on cbid for $15-20...

I have thought about this over the years and decided that if I want a short smoke I will choose a cigar I can toss without guilt (i.e. not a $10 stick) and smoke it for as long as I can. When time is up, down it goes.

I tried a Junior last night along with some homebrew. I even got my gf to take a couple puffs. It was good.

I have the others to try but definstely getting a box of Juniors payday.

I'll give you a couple of other options; RP Vintage PC's seconds from Cigars International and Oliva Serie O #4.

I smoke a lot of shorts during the Colorado winter. Whether they taste exactly like they're bigger bros or not, here are some of my favorites:

CAO MX2 daggers
CAO Italia Piccolo
5 Vegas Shorty torps
RyJ Petit Beli #2
Partagas Black Prontos
La Gloria Petit Maduro
Monte Platinum Beli #2
Por Larranaga Cuban Grade Corona Maduro (4.5x42)

I smoke a lot of other shorts, but these are my favs and all last about 30-40 minutes.
