Walmart $5 Digital Hydrometer

I have 2 walmart hygro plus a radio shack unit I keep in my Vino. The 1st walmart special is off by -2%, the other by +3%, so I compensate when reading them, but I've never seen the swing you are talking about. I can't offer a solution other than buy another and see what happens.

It's wonky. I wouldn't trust it. I would just spend the $ for a Western Caliber @ Heartfelt. The lower priced Heartfelt Hygros are good too. I just wouldn't want to be guessing all the time.:2 Good luck.:tu

I believe this hygrometer is neither wonky nor zoinky. It is my professional opinion as a former copier salesman that the hygrometer is in fact, discombobulated. I present this picture of Marty Feldman to provide evidence of proof for my postulate:

Discombobulated? But the visuals are functioning fine and the structure is intact, the temperature is accurate and the humidity is on track.

Lets leave such extreme scalars for more daunting occasions.

Apparently you didn't read the part where I mentioned that I am a former copier salesman.

I didn't even know Walmart had a 5 dollar Hygrometer. So I must really be wonky. Is it online or in the store. Anything would beat the analog one my wife busticated cus she was sure she could adjust it that last degree that it was reading incorrectly. It is no so hosed that your wonky walmart has to be better....

:r

You're lucky.
My Walmart hygrometer, when salt tested, registered 8% off.
It DOES stay consistent, though.....
So I just noted "+8" on the back.

If you're in the spirit for experimentation resalt test it making sure that the temperature is 68+ degrees and see if it's dead on.

I'd wager my finest philly blunt it'll be between +/-2%

My Philly Blunts are all wonky.

Former copiers are no good. I had one go wonky all by itself one day. From that day on, it made decent lemonade, but it insisted on using Splenda, instead of real sugar.

I say for $5, if it really bothers you, get another.
