Who first introduced you to premium cigars?

Introduced myself...wanted to see what Cuban cigars were all about several years ago in Nassau after a lifetime of Black and Milds. Found the legit store and bought some Bolivar Royal Coronas...and I was done. :hn

My dad introduced me, all those years i went with him to the cigar store. Im still lucky enough to have dad still around, he is still my smoking buddy.

For me, it was "an accident of curiosity". I started out smoking cheap cigars. In college, a friend worked at 7-11, back in the old days when they actually closed at 11 PM. Due to a serious hole in their inventory system, the sales of single beers and cigars meant that a few of each would pay for several more. Since they still came out long on the money end, they just never showed up on the inventory as "missing", so he would grab a couple of six-packs and a handful of cigars and come over to our dorm, where we would sit up 'til all hours, enjoying the company and the semi-ill-gotten gains. I can't even remember what they were, actually, but they were almost always very dry and harsh, but that wasn't the real point of them anyway.

Years later, I had migrated to pipes and cigarettes, and only the very occasional cigar, most of which were also pretty bad. Fast forward another 10 years, or so. I was in Canada for a wedding, and decided to buy a couple of Cubanos, just to see what all the fuss was about. Boy, did I ever! I made the ignorant mistake of buying them in a casino, and later found out that I had gotten totally raped on the price, but they had been properly cared for, and were just miles above any others I had ever smoked. I still wasn't sliding, but I went from 1-2 a year, to one a month, or so. I was going to the local B&M anyway to buy pipe tobacco, and would wander into the humi and buy whatever was in the clearance bin. Then I went five years without smoking a cigar at all. I went to Scotland early this year, and picked up a few Cubans, and it all came back to me, and I've basically been in free-fall ever since then.

Sorry this was such a long post, but it's a 30-year story, condensed to two paragraphs.
