How was the event?
I think the rep in your area is the same as mine, Chris Townsand. He is a cool guy with a quirky personalty. Get him talking about Cigars or 1911 Pistols and he can talk your ear off :tu
Jimbo,
While most will tell you that your hygrometer must be salt tested, I would recommend going another route. I think that it is just to easy to have too much, or not enough, water to salt mix to get accurate results. If you can find a Boveda Seasoning Kit at your local store I would...
While Fabreeze is the more readily available product, PureAyre does a much, much better job of removing the odor.
Comparison I did for Stogie Review a while back
If your not concerned with looks, slap a 3M Filtrete 1" Air Cleaning filter on the back of a 20" box fan. Don't use a High...
Its been a while since my last order with them but I've always had a positive experience.
I visited their new store in PA a couple of months back, very impressive.
If you planning on ordering a few cigars rather than picking them up from a local shop, I'd recommend the El Cobre or a Top Shelf Signature Select Red Label (Puro Corojo).
If your looking for locally available smokes I'd echo the Camacho Coyolar and Joyo de Nicaragua suggestions.
My only concern with white mold on the foot would be the possibility of it traveling up and inside the filler.
Have either of you even seen this happen?
I haven't had an experience bad enough which lead to mold within the tobacco rather than just on the outside.
Where the 80% figure came from and why I'm not sure. Not too long ago I read a book entitled The Connoisseur's Book of the Cigar by Zino Davidoff. On several occasions the comment is made that a cigars strength is determined by the color of the wrapper and the size.
The book was translated from...
I've had this happen in the past but only if I've used a draw tool of some sort. In my case it was due to the tunnel that the draw tool made. I would guess that the air moving through the cigar was taking the path of least resistance and not moving through the combusting tobacco.
When I would...
Dave,
This is something that I have always been a bit confused about. I feel that thinner cigars allow you to taste the wrapper more. I think this is due to them having less filler than a larger cigar.
My thought process on this is kind of confusing even to myself so please don't mind the...
I got in on one of the PB-207 group buys a long ways back. I picked up three and am still using my first one. Runs like a champ after more than a year and the clear fuel tank (I got 1 clear, 1 red, and 1 black) is excellent in gauging when you will need a refill.
My suggestion would be to look into the makeup of the cigar or ask the sales person for more info. The dark wrapper is caused by a fermentation process which makes a Maduro (mature) darker colored leaf.
The combination of Filler, Binder, Wrapper are what gives a cigar its Body/Strength and in...
A few weeks ago I was in my local B&M and cigar misconceptions came up. We were talking for a little while about them and I was surprised at how many guys believed in so many of the misconceptions.
I thought I would get some discussion going on the single misconceptions you dislike the most. Do...
