Do you still use CBID ?

Every now and then seems to me as though they always have the some stuff up for auction . Not to often I see somthing new on there site.

I use it fairly often but if I can't save substantially (say 40% off retail) I bail. Deals are getting harder and harder to find. I did land a Nub sampler recently (20 cigars) for $54.00 - not bad.

I had to call my CC company to re-issue me a new card, the one that I registered with CBID, so that I can not bid on CBID any more. That's how bad my out-of-control bidding and pack-rat mentality was, or is...

Men, do I hate that devil site at sometime and then I miss it on other occasion, sleepless night. :bn

After 10 years of purchasing cigars online I still have not used cbid, I look at the site every once in a while but the bids sometimes seem too high. There are plenty of deals at other sites:) Thats is just my:2

I did the same thing

Just scored a box of pepin maduro belicoso's for $136! I don't use it that much any more, just watch and snatch the awesome buys.

The high end smokes like Opus, Ashton VSG and ESG, Diamond Crown and Padron are always full price even 20-30% over, but most decent smokes like Joya de Nicaragua or 5 Vegas Miami could still be had for 3-4 bucks a stick.

I haven't won a bid in a long while. I gererally bid a few bucks more than the opening prices on the big lot offerings. I used to win about half the time using this strategy. Now I'm usually outbid. Also, I like immediate gratification so I don't like to wait for an auction to end.
Consequently, I've lost interest in CBid.
Cigar International, specifically their Joe Cigar's Daily Deal, www.joecigar.com have gotten most of my business recently.

I've evolved to a strategy of simply placing an auto-bid for the max I'm willing to pay, (and I always consider shipping costs when figuring that price) and then ignore the site until notified whether I won or lost. I NEVER change my max auto-bid as I figure the cigar I want will come up again in another auction soon .

By the way fellow gorilla -MG- has created a great database of C-Bid winning bids. Click on CHIMP to access it. You will be able to see an historical chart of the winning bids on any cigar on C-Bid. A great help in determinining your bid.

It USED TO BE the bomb site... but now it falls in price range of other sites, or CI itself, where you can find free shipping (thanks to CS members) knocking 4 bucks off a 5'er. Always factor in shipping.

Many of the prices go OVER what can be had elsewhere. Also, as my palate has become more refined, less of what I want is there. I definitely shop around other sites for better prices and selection.

It definitely seems as though more people are on there and buying up more quantity.

I haven't won a bid there in MONTHS!!

CI is definitely making bank NOW!! They should either boost quantity (& more brands) or another site could (& should) come along and steal their thunder.

I still use it if I can get something I love for a good price. I used them recently to get a 20 stick sampler of Man O war's for $58 shipped, box price is about $115 on C bid. I have a bid in for a box of Pepin Vegas Cubanas Generosos for $80 shipped... Retail is about $160.00. If I don't win the box of Vegas Cubanas, no biggie, if I do win, then GOOD :D 50% discount for using Cbid is gooood!

Any of you Gurkha lovers notice the increase of bids on X Furte's and Legends in the last few months? I used to could get 10 pks of these for $25, now I see them going for $40 +. What is the deal?? Why so popular now??

Less and less all the time. The last sticks I bought from them I found for a lower price at a local B&M (and also on Cigars International). Sometimes I bid when they have like 75-80 percent off retail on a given lot and they have a bunch of them. Otherwise, things just get bid beyond all reason.

While my purchasing level has slowed in general, I do not find the level of deals there that they once had. It seems like the cat is out of the bag. Fortunately, my bills don't look as bad :ss Still, I miss the hunt. That must be why I've been looking at my pipes again :pp
