If you were to buy 1 box of cigars.... What do you suggest I buy for my 1st box?

LOL Just found an J21 thread and you had posted you didn't like them. I guess I'm just off. I'll change my answer to Veracu West Side. :ss

It sounds like our taste preferences are pretty similar. You certainly left it open ended as far as price.

For under (or right around) $100 I would go with RP Edge Sumatra (Holt's still has a few).

For double that amount it would have to be the Tat browns.

That being said I have been buying mostly singles and five packs lately to broaden my tastes.

Best of luck brother...

I would have to say Tatuaje or Padron's. Probably the Tats since you have them on your sig so I'm assuming you like them. Brown label is my favorite, then the whites.

Hey David. I'll put in my :2. I'd go with a cab of the Tatuaje Veracu West Side because I know you enjoy them :D Or I'd suggest a box of one of the Padron anniversary series.

I haven't bought a box yet either; but I already know what my first is gonna be:

Padron 3000. Never had a bad one, always satisfies. Distinctive flavor, great construction and burn. I'm told they age well too. Add the fact that the price is ridiculously reasonable, and it's hard to beat as a great all-around smoke.

I think I'm going to buy a box of Black Pearl Purples. My local shop is having a huge sale on them.

But that's just localy other than that I would go with Lot 23 or Twists

I haven't ever purchased a box, but my first will be something by Hoyo de Monterrey (NC). I seriously love the flavor profile of about anything they make.

While they are not as strong as you indicated that you prefer, they are an essential cigar to have tasted and nice to have in your collection, I would get a box of Fuente 858 in maduro. I also agree with the suggestion of the JDN Antaños and would add the LFD ligero series of cigars.

I hope you are married because I'd hate to see a poll or advice needed thread about whether or not you should pop the question. First storage and now on to the first box.

If you haven't smoked a cigar that you think is box-worthy yet you aren't ready to buy a box. It really is that easy. Buying a box means that when all the 5ers and samples are gone this cigar is the only thing left to smoke.
