Plant geneticists theorize that the first cultivation of tobacco took place in the Andes of Peru and Ecuador. Gradually it moved north and the Mayans were among the first BOTLs... It took several centuries for the leaf to reach Cuba, but if that's what you mean, I guess you could say Cuban tobacco originates from Ecuador!
Maduro wrappers from San Andres are nice, but that's the only nice thing I have to say about Mexican cigars. Bitter and astringent is my experience.
