Of the Opus X

Been smoking Opus cigars for quite awhile and I still love them and wish so many others didn't. I hope and pray that more will convert to stop smoking this cigar thereby making many available to people like me who love cigars like them that have a price tag so friggin high. I applaud those who hate the Opus cigar and I hope you all rise up and tell the Fuentes how rotten this cigar is and hopefully they will lower the pricing and up the production. Everyone wins if this is done, am I right?

i would view that as a good thing. the re-fill boxes are generally 50 of each kind (depends on size). the larger dealers tend to get the "not for display boxes".

i like them, who cares about the packaging as long as whats in it is good

I agree With you about the packaging I generally don't care as long as the cigars are good. the only downside is that it is now much harder to get an Opus X box from the B&M because they need them to display the Cigars in.

I wouldn't trust the results of any cigar that is smoked rott and especially with one that has just be released. It has traveled too many miles recently.

if you generally let me know the size i can usually get my hands on one or put you in touch with someone who has it. PM on the way.

I just picked up four from the B&M, had a Robusto. It was the first Opus I had in a couple of years and it tasted just as good as I remembered.

I think most of the bashing you are getting on opus is from people that smoke one and dont think they live up to all the hype. Most people pay a lot of money for them and expect the best cigar in the world.

Ive never tried one though cause I wont pay the prices.

I missed all the negative chatter!!!
I think he meant me, George. :r
I haven't smoked an Opus I like yet. Ordered 4 Perfection #4's from Rob the other day when I got some of the new LR's just to give it another go.
I'm down to 2 now and haven't smoked one yet. I'm honestly hoping that I just end up giving away the other two. :D

I have to...sorry

"This coming from a guy who was looking to buy empty boxes a few months back.
That was you right? If not my apologies.

Packaging is part of the......total package.
This is why people buy $8000 Aristocrats as opposed to the really big stackable coolers

If "90% of (us) who have tried them think they are good", why get worked up over what the other 10% say?

Actually, it is very simple.

It's called the 10% Rule.

That 10% are doing 90% of the complaining.

As well as anyone who has been in the service can tell you,

10% of the Soldiers do 90% of the work.

Personally I love the Opus line. And if one takes the time to do some searching they can be found close to msrp. Have about 50 in my humi and will continue to hoard whenever I can! The longer they sit the better they get!:tu

I don't like them fresh, but I recently smoked one with about 3 years on it and I thought it was one of the best smokes I ever had to date. If smoked fresh I don't think they are all that impressive for the amount of money they are and the run around you need to do to get some so when smoked fresh I don't think they live up to the hype.:2

I'm with him.
I love Opus, but not fresh. I have smoked a few fresh and if that was my only exposure to these, I certainly wouldn't have any boxes of them in my humi. They need AT LEAST two years of age and they become great smokes.:tu So if any of you guys just bought your first, let them sit for a couple years, It will be worth the wait. If you don't like them after that send me a PM for my address and go back to your Gurkas and Rocky Patels :r. Just my :2 of course.

it was me but i'm not going to complain when my b&m starts getting boxes of 50 with multiple types versus the dress boxes (which hold less). i'll happily pay the 20-30$ for the dress box and would exchange getting the shipping crates for the b&m getting tons more opus.

:tpd:

I probably keep about 50+ opus sticks in my humi to age. I have also had 3 year old opus and they are :dr:dr:dr:dr:dr

The fresh ones aren't the best. They are a good stick, but they get so much better with a few years of age. Definitely one of the best NC sticks to age. :tu

I am actually coming to a gap in my opus where I might not smoke any for a year. I am getting low on my 2005 and I don't have any 2006 sticks, only 2007 so they are still too fresh lol... but in 2010 I will be back to smoking some damn fine opus!:D

But if, as the original poster stated, 90% of people like them, that would mean 10% of the people do not like them.

Wouldn't that 10% actually do 100% of the complaining? After all, what would the 90% who like them be complaining about? ;)
