Same, I find a full humidor is more stable too, I do my best to test that theory. But, I think there has to be a channel for the air to circulate to the areas away from your humidification system.

I smoke in the garage, use a parabolic heater, they work great.

Good question. Besides the things you mention, I sometimes have trouble deciding whether to smoke something fresh or older. Not sure how much of a kick I want. Older ones are harder to find and part of me wants to hang on to them too.
