Post your Ashtrays!

Coz,

You might keep an eye on this lot: http://www.cigarbid.com/auction/lot.cfm?lotID=431432

Bet it goes for less than a buck thirty.

Actually If you guys havent seen CI www.cigarsinternational.com Has the CAO Cubist on sale for 59.95 which is a pretty sweet deal. http://www.cigarsinternational.com/prodDisp.asp?item=M-MPASH1&cat=82

Also dont see it on the site any more but I know that recently JR was offering the CAO ashtray free with a box purchase. I remember it being "while supplies last" but it definitly wouldnt hurt to give em a call and see if the offer still stands. As for myself I do not yet have an ashtray to show off.

I just ordered two boxes of Partagas so will be getting two of their ashtrays. I'll give one to my SIL. He smokes cigars, brews his own beer and shoots a .45. I'm so proud (sniff).

Silhanek, cool AT your FIL made. My FIL is an excellant welder but I don't know if he could make something that small. He's done stuff like mobile, 30 foot long cattle chutes and giant hay stack movers.

I've been using an old, crystal AT from the 50's that belonged to my folks. I'm looking forward to receiving the Part. AT. It'll add some class to my "man-cave".

This is a great thread. Lots of neat pictures of some really cool ashtrays.
Only one thing bothered me. Physiognomy. There's about 3 hours worth of smoking left in those cigars in your ashtray. Yes, it's true. I haven't trimmed my mustache in years:)

Just posted THIS THREAD with a picture of the bigger Herf Edition of my ash tray.

WyoBob, my FIL is definatly a skilled craftsman/artist, but I don't think the welding on these ash trays is really anything more than a few tack welds to hold it together. I think most of the work was getting the pieces cut and sized before assembly.

Nothing fancy here, just a couple of old glass ashtrays, but I like 'em...

Those sir are very cool, I love the vintage look! :ss

My smoking goodies (props to Bigwaved and Discdog for the cutter action):

The red glass is depression-era, while the Occidental was picked up at the establishment of the same name my first time in SF for business. That place was seriously cool--allowed to operate because the servers "own" the establishment so it's considered a club, not a restaurant/bar, so they serve the good stuff inside and you can smoke 'til your heart's content.

Both of those are cool - I especially like the vintage red glass.

I swear my grandpa had a red one just like that. I used to go to see him when I was a kid, He smoked cigs, cigars, and pipes. I loved the smell in his house.:ss

Same here. My favorite memories of my grandfather are of him smoking cigars and the smell of his home.

:tpd:

kinda wish I had kept his old ashtrays..he had a neat one in his living room that was on a stand - would have been nice to have now. Well at least I have his old humi!

When I saw that red glass ashtray in an antique store in Stillwater, OK, I bought it and its three smaller friends for exactly that reason...memories of my grandfather, being a little kid and always knowing that among other things, I'd get to see all of the depression glass that he and my grandmother collected. I cried the day one of the smaller ones was broken by a drunken friend.

I just got this one as a gift. I'm sorry for the stock photo - as soon as I locate my camera I'll get some real pics up.

No ashtray to post really....

But it was the memories of my Grandpa that stuck with me and no doubt influenced my trip down the slope...

Here are a couple of my ash trays. A few post back muziq had a pic of his red glass, here's my red one I found on ebay. Also a clear glass I picked up at a yard sale.
The tile top table, for the front porch, my wife made for me last fall

A few from around the house:

coffee.jpg

My coffee table. Counter-clockwise from bottom left: Waterford that holds three cigars, one with the Senate logo with rests for four cigars, and a Lalique lighter/ashtray set with a shell pattern.

cuba.jpg

One end table. A vintage Lalique ashtray named "Cuba"

cooler.jpg

Another end table (actually it's a wine cooler turned humidor). A marble ashtray.

bedside.jpg

Bedside table. Gotta love smoking in bed :cb

In case you couldn't tell, I like being close to an ashtray (or three) at all times.

I think I need to upgrade... :ss This stinky pile of nubs was from feb... I wanted to keep a track of how many I was smoking, but this will be a one time experiment. My ash goes in an asian noodle bowl before disposal...

that looks so symmetrical it could be a piece of art....

Here's a pic of my stinky. I'm currently in the process of filling it up, I'm going to try to get it to the top before I dump it :ss

It's a pretty crappy pic taken with the camera phone, but you get the idea. Oh and there's a z-plus in that zippo :)

I'm sorry :), but I figure a cigar is done when it is done... I usually try to enjoy as much of a stick as I can, but I don't go burning my fingers unless it's really worth it. There were some nice nubs in that lot too! A La Aurora Pref., Padron Anny, etc, etc... I think I heard a quote from Zino Davidoff about this... Didn't he say that a gentleman only smokes the first half of a cigar, & only a brute smokes more??? :ss

Thanks, too bad it didn't smell like art! That pile was some stinky :BS
