AVH, here's a sticky (<--link) with a nice list of cigars to try. The best bet when starting is to try many different cigars to find what you like. Try to buy cigars from reputable vendors (tobacco shops) as many convenient stores don't properly humidify their cigars.
Indeed, I've had a similar experience. At least when it happened to you the cigars weren't from an anniversary humidor or 1987. (<--link) Wouldn't write either of them off just yet. Hope you have a better experience next time.

Tampa Sweethearts advertises custom printed cello for a range of Fuente cigars. As I recall you can get It's a Boy! (or whatever) Hemmingways, among others. Don't see it on the site, likely have to call for pricing.
